Jakarta, INTI – Amid ongoing challenges in equalizing digital access and the need for a more inclusive national transformation, the government has begun introducing long-term solutions through the launch of Indonesia’s Digital Direction. The event, held on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, in South Jakarta, marks an important milestone in shaping the country's digital development to become more connected, growing, and secure. This new initiative is expected to address the problem of uneven internet access while strengthening the digital ecosystem that supports the economy and cybersecurity. Through this approach, the government underscores its commitment to achieving the Golden Indonesia 2045 vision.
Indonesia’s Digital Direction Aligned with the Golden Indonesia 2045 Vision
Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs, Meutya Hafid, emphasized that Indonesia’s Digital Direction is designed in line with the 2025–2029 Strategic Plan and the National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN). According to her, the theme “connected, growing, secure” serves as the foundation for digital development that promotes inclusivity and strengthens national competitiveness.
“We want to ensure that digital development is not only modern but also delivers real added value for society and the business sector,” Meutya said in her remarks.
Inclusive Connectivity: Equal Access as a Top Priority
In the connected aspect, Kemkomdigi highlights the importance of providing inclusive, high-quality, and affordable digital connectivity. One of its strategic steps is the 1.4 GHz radio frequency auction, aimed at expanding access to affordable internet services.
The government targets nationwide access to affordable internet by 2026, as part of its commitment to enhancing digital inclusivity.
Growing Ecosystem: Strengthening MSMEs and Digital Talent
Under the growing aspect, the government seeks to build a digital ecosystem capable of empowering local businesses, strengthening micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), and developing more digital talent.
Meutya stressed that digital transformation must create tangible economic value, including improved digital commerce and healthy collaboration among industry players.
As part of this acceleration, Kemkomdigi is preparing an AI Ethics Framework and an AI Roadmap, both now 90 percent completed and targeted for release next year.
The ministry has also launched the Garuda Spark Innovation Hub in Jakarta, Bandung, and Medan as centers of innovation, with plans to expand to other cities.
Secure Digital Space: Cybersecurity and Child Protection as Priorities
In the secure aspect, the government emphasizes the need to create a safe digital environment free from threats such as fraud, online gambling, child exploitation, hacking, and data breaches.
These efforts are strengthened through strategic collaboration with BSSN and enhancements in personal data protection and critical infrastructure security, including national data centers.
The government has also issued Government Regulation No. 17 of 2025 on Electronic System Governance for Child Protection (PP Tunas), which will take full effect in March 2026 and has since become a reference for other countries such as Malaysia and several European nations.
Collaboration as the Key to Accelerating National Digitalization
Meutya concluded by emphasizing that the success of Indonesia’s Digital Direction requires synergy among ministries, local governments, the private sector, and the public.
According to her, Kemkomdigi is not the sole actor but an orchestrator providing policy foundations and collaborative spaces.
“This digital direction is not the agenda of one institution, but a shared responsibility,” she asserted.
Conclusion
The launch of Indonesia’s Digital Direction is a strategic step by the government to build a more inclusive, empowering, and secure digital ecosystem. By focusing on connectivity, digital economic growth, and cybersecurity enhancement, Indonesia reaffirms its commitment to accelerating transformation toward Golden Indonesia 2045.
