Jakarta, INTI - For the first time, Indonesia has established a national pavilion at London Tech Week 2026, marking a significant milestone in the country’s ambition to strengthen its position within the global technology landscape, not only as a growing market but also as a source of innovation.

The Indonesia Pavilion, located at Booth 420 at London Olympia, was officially launched through a collaborative effort involving the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in London, the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Komdigi), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia, and the British Embassy in Jakarta.

Six Indonesian startups participated in one of Europe’s largest technology conferences, presenting a diverse range of innovations spanning health technology, AI-powered education platforms, and smart city solutions.

The participation serves as an important opportunity to showcase the advancement of Indonesia’s digital ecosystem while opening doors for international partnerships, strategic collaborations, and global investment opportunities.

Growing Startup Ecosystem Strengthens Indonesia's Digital Economy

As Southeast Asia’s largest economy, Indonesia continues to experience rapid growth in its startup ecosystem. With more than 2,400 startups across the country, Indonesia demonstrates its capability to create scalable technologies with regional and global potential.

Indonesia’s digital economy has also shown remarkable expansion. In 2024, its value exceeded USD 90 billion and is projected to reach between USD 200 billion and USD 300 billion by 2030, positioning Indonesia as one of the largest digital economy forces in the region.

The Indonesia Pavilion was officially inaugurated on June 8, 2026, by Indonesia’s Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Desra Percaya, alongside Edwin Hidayat Abdullah, Director General of Digital Ecosystem at the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs.

In his remarks, Desra emphasized that Indonesia’s presence at London Tech Week reflects the increasingly vital role of startups in strengthening the national economy through enhanced research, development, and digital transformation.

“Indonesia’s participation at London Tech Week highlights the importance of startups in strengthening Indonesia’s economy through greater research and development as well as the expansion of the digital economy,” Desra stated.

Meanwhile, Edwin stressed that Indonesia’s participation carries a broader message beyond simply promoting technology.

“This is a step to demonstrate to the world that Indonesia is not merely a technology market, but also a nation with exceptional talents, strong innovations, and readiness to embrace the future digital economy,” Edwin said.

AI and Digital Talent Become Indonesia’s Future Focus

Beyond the exhibition, the Indonesian delegation also arranged a series of follow-up activities throughout London Tech Week.

On June 9, 2026, Indonesian startups took part in masterclass sessions and pitching events at London Olympia, presenting their solutions to technology founders, investors, policymakers, and leaders of the UK’s digital ecosystem.

On June 10, 2026, Indonesia joined the London Tech Week Fringe Events, focusing on the growth of artificial intelligence (AI) and the development of national digital talents through fireside chats and panel discussions.

Amid intensifying global competition in AI and digital economy development, Indonesia’s debut at London Tech Week represents a strategic move to demonstrate that the country’s digital transformation is not only advancing domestically but is also ready to compete and contribute on the international stage.

Conclusion

Indonesia’s first appearance at London Tech Week 2026 marks a major step in expanding its presence within the global technology ecosystem. Through the introduction of innovative startups, AI initiatives, and digital talent development, Indonesia demonstrates its readiness to move beyond being a technology consumer and become a creator of solutions that can contribute to the future of the global digital economy.
