Jakarta, INTI – Indonesia is stepping up its role on the global tech stage with the planned development of Asia’s first data center powered by artificial intelligence (AI) and quantum computing. This project marks a new chapter in the nation’s digital transformation, aimed at boosting economic growth to 8 percent in support of the Golden Indonesia 2045 vision.
The cutting-edge data center will be located in Tunas Prima Industrial Estate, Batam, Riau Islands, with an initial investment of US$400 million, or approximately IDR 6 trillion. The project is a result of a strategic partnership between Silicon Valley-based tech firm Worldvuer iByond Limited and industrial zone developer Tunas Prima. The agreement was signed in Jakarta on July 9, 2025, witnessed by Deputy Minister of Investment and Downstreaming, Todotua Pasaribu, and Her Highness Princess Anne Shek, Chairman of the Advisory Board for Asia, Worldvuer iByond.
Advanced Technology in an Eco-Friendly Zone
Tunas Prima, known as a green industrial area with renewable energy infrastructure such as solar panels and independent water treatment facilities, has been selected as the project site. The area has previously attracted global investors, including Apple for its iPhone and AirTags production, further establishing its reputation as a hub for innovation in Indonesia.
The upcoming data center will not only utilize AI but also integrate quantum computing and big data analytics through the Vovea iByond Operating System. This platform is designed to deliver data processing speed and capacity far beyond that of conventional data centers. After being developed in Silicon Valley and the Middle East, Indonesia will become the first base for this technology in Asia.
Government Support and Broader Collaboration Potential
Deputy Minister Todotua emphasized that this initiative aligns with President Prabowo’s directive to position the digital sector particularly data centers as a key pillar of national economic growth. He also highlighted regulatory ease through the Omnibus Law and OSS system, along with various fiscal incentives including tax holidays, super tax deductions for R&D and human capital development, and import duty exemptions for equipment all part of the government's strong commitment to high-quality investments like this project.
Beyond the data center, Worldvuer iByond Limited is exploring broader partnerships, including in the energy sector modeled after their collaboration with Aramco in Saudi Arabia and in telecommunications with Telkom Group and the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs.
Developing Tech Supply Chains and Digital Talent
As a follow-up, the company will submit an official incentive proposal and supporting documents to the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming/BKPM. It also plans to expand collaboration across sectors, particularly with education and mining industries, to support the development of a gold-based microchip supply chain.
With green infrastructure, cutting-edge technology, and robust government backing, Indonesia is on the right track to becoming Asia’s hub for AI and quantum computing. This milestone not only strengthens the country's position as a rising digital power but also accelerates the realization of an inclusive and globally competitive digital economy.
Conclusion:
The development of Asia’s first Quantum AI data center marks a strategic move for Indonesia in strengthening its position as the region’s digital economy hub. Backed by advanced technology, a green industrial zone, and strong government incentives, the project is expected to drive national economic growth and accelerate the country’s digital transformation toward Golden Indonesia 2045. The planned cross-sector collaborations also open vast opportunities for developing local tech talent and building a domestic technology supply chain.
