10 months ago | Data Center and Cloud Computing

Jakarta, INTI – In an effort to strengthen Indonesia’s environmentally friendly digital ecosystem, PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, through its data center infrastructure subsidiary PT Teknologi Data Infrastruktur (NeutraDC Nxera Batam), has established a strategic partnership with PT Medco Power Indonesia. The collaboration focuses on utilizing renewable energy to support the operations of hyperscale data centers that enable artificial intelligence (AI) systems.

The agreement was formalized through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) during SIJORI WEEK: Batam Interconnect World Forum 2025, held in Batam on Monday, July 7, 2025. The MoU was signed by NeutraDC Nxera Batam CEO Indrama YM Purba and Medco Power Director, Chief Commercial and Business Development Officer, Femi Sastrena.

Addressing Energy Challenges in the AI Era

Indrama YM Purba emphasized that as a digital infrastructure hub, NeutraDC Nxera Batam has a responsibility to prioritize sustainability. This becomes increasingly relevant as energy demands grow alongside the rapid adoption of AI technologies in data centers.

“We provide data center infrastructure that acts as an AI enabler. This technology requires a large amount of power to function. Through this partnership, we strive to remain environmentally responsible,” he stated.

This collaboration not only strengthens NeutraDC’s position as a pioneer in green digital hubs, but also reinforces support for advancing Indonesia’s future-oriented digital infrastructure.

Medco Power Prepares Solar Power Plants in Industrial Zone

From Medco Power’s perspective, this initiative is part of its long-term strategy to supply clean energy. Femi Sastrena explained that Medco is currently developing solar power plants around the Kabil Integrated Industrial Estate (KIIE) in Batam to meet the clean energy needs of the industrial zone and data centers.

“This collaboration is an important step for Medco Power to actively participate in the country’s digital transformation while also driving the development of renewable energy in Batam,” said Femi.

Medco Power is one of Indonesia’s leading independent power producers, with more than two decades of experience in developing gas and renewable energy power plants.

Green Data Centers Support Net Zero Emissions

NeutraDC Nxera Batam is part of the NeutraDC Group, which is currently developing a data center with more than 60 MW of IT Load capacity. The facility is being built using a green building concept and a decarbonization approach from the early planning stages.

NeutraDC’s collaboration with Medco Power actually began in 2023, when Telkom’s data center-focused subsidiary signed the initial MoU. This initiative represents a tangible step toward both companies' commitment to supporting Indonesia’s Net Zero Emission goals.

NeutraDC Group CEO, Andreuw Th.A.F, stated that the partnership with Medco Power is also part of the company’s implementation of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles, which are fully integrated into their data center development process.

Expanding Renewable Energy-Based Infrastructure

In addition to Batam, NeutraDC has also adopted renewable energy in its facility located in Cikarang. By leveraging green energy and cutting-edge technology, NeutraDC continues to strengthen its role as part of the TelkomGroup in driving inclusive and sustainable digitalization across Indonesia.

NeutraDC’s focus on AI, connectivity, and energy efficiency underscores its strategic role in shaping a smarter and cleaner digital future for Indonesia.
