Jakarta, INTI - The Indonesian government is using the momentum of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations with Switzerland to strengthen the two countries’ strategic partnership, particularly in the digital sector. This was conveyed during the Swiss National Day 2026 celebration in Jakarta on Wednesday, July 29, 2026.
Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs, Meutya Hafid, emphasized that the bilateral relationship, which has existed for more than seven decades, continues to grow through cooperation in development, trade and investment, legal affairs, and digital transformation.
The momentum of 75 years of diplomatic relations, Meutya continued, reflects a partnership built on trust, mutual respect, and a forward-looking spirit. The relationship between Indonesia and Switzerland has continued to produce mutually beneficial cooperation in various sectors, including a growing digital partnership.
"We are proud to mark the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Switzerland. This commemoration reflects a deeply rooted partnership, built on trust, mutual respect, and a forward-looking spirit that continues to deliver tangible benefits to both countries," said Meutya in an official statement.
Indonesia’s Partner in the Digital and Telecom Sectors
According to her, Switzerland is one of Indonesia's most valued partners through regular political dialogue and the Joint Economic and Trade Committee.
The relationship between the two countries is also strengthened through people-to-people collaboration in education, vocational training, and the business world, which opens up opportunities for mutual growth.
Meutya also highlighted Switzerland's strategic role as a hub for various multilateral forums in the telecommunications and digital fields.
"Switzerland holds a very special place in my official duties. From the World Economic Forum in Davos to the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) platform, to the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS), these visits underscore Switzerland's importance to Indonesia's digital diplomacy at the global level," explained Meutya.
Meutya added that Indonesia is committed to expanding collaboration in the field of digital innovation as part of strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries.
"We are very open to exploring various innovation opportunities in the digital sector to broaden the horizons of bilateral cooperation. I am fully confident that the synergy between Indonesia and Switzerland will become even stronger," said Meutya.
