Jakarta, INTI - The Energy Storage Alliance (EESA) emphasized its commitment to strengthening cooperation between Indonesia and China in developing clean energy and energy storage technology to support the national energy transition.
EESA Secretary General, Rene Duan, assessed that Indonesia has a great opportunity to become one of the main markets for clean energy development in the Southeast Asia region.
"Indonesia has enormous potential in developing clean energy. Through the EESA Summit Indonesia, we are committed to continuing to be a bridge for cooperation between China and Indonesia so that we can realize a future energy system that is reliable and environmentally friendly," said Rene.
Energy Storage to Support Power Plants' Generation
Rene said that energy storage technology will play an important role in supporting the use of new and renewable energy (NRE), especially solar power plants and wind power plants which generation production depends on weather conditions.
For this reason, EESA brings together the government, business actors, investors, and energy storage technology companies from China to discuss investment opportunities, technological cooperation, and policy direction for the energy sector in Indonesia.
During the forum, EESA also explained China's experience in developing large-scale energy storage projects, including financing and project development models that were deemed applicable in developing countries.
Rene assessed that Indonesia's need for energy storage systems will continue to increase in line with plans to develop solar power plants in the national roadmap, which is targeted to reach a capacity of 100 gigawatts. Storage technology and microgrid systems are important components for maintaining a reliable electricity supply, especially in island areas and remote areas that are not yet fully connected to the main electricity grid.
Rene added that cooperation between Indonesia and China has the potential to support the development of a more stable energy system while strengthening national energy security.
Conclusion
The Energy Storage Alliance (EESA) reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening cooperation between Indonesia and China in the development of clean energy and energy storage technology. According to EESA Secretary General Rene Duan, Indonesia has significant potential to become a major clean energy market in Southeast Asia. Energy storage technology will be key to supporting the utilization of renewable energy, such as solar power plants and wind power. Indonesia government has the target of developing solar power plants up to 100 GW and the need to maintain a reliable electricity supply throughout the country.
