Jakarta, INTI - Indonesia's Ministry of Manpower (Kemnaker) has partnered with Microsoft, Binus University, and GreatNusa to expand its artificial intelligence (AI)-powered job fair through the AI Career Boost Day 2026 program in Jakarta. The initiative aims to connect job seekers with industry demand while enhancing AI knowledge and digital skills to prepare Indonesia's workforce for the future.
AI Skills Become a Workforce Priority
Minister of Manpower Yassierli said the collaboration combines an online job fair with AI-focused training programs to help job seekers improve their competitiveness in an increasingly technology-driven labor market.
He noted that demand for AI-skilled professionals continues to rise globally, emphasizing that Indonesia must accelerate the development of a workforce capable of meeting evolving industry needs.
As an example, Yassierli pointed to an 11% increase in AI and digital talent recruitment in Hyderabad, India, reflecting the growing global demand for AI expertise.
He also highlighted Microsoft's contribution to Indonesia's digital workforce, noting that the company has already provided digital skills training to approximately 50,000 participants.
Expanding AI Training and Digital Recruitment
Kemnaker believes stronger collaboration between government, academia, and industry is essential to accelerate workforce transformation.
The ministry is utilizing its network of 43 vocational training centers across Indonesia to provide practical, conventional, and digital training programs, including courses focused on emerging technologies such as AI.
To broaden accessibility, many of these programs are also delivered online, allowing more Indonesians to participate regardless of location.
Kemnaker is also expanding its online job fair platform, enabling job seekers to apply for employment opportunities remotely instead of attending physical recruitment events.
Yassierli explained that the online job fair initiative is designed to make recruitment more efficient while supporting the growing demand for AI-related skills.
In addition, Kemnaker continues to enhance its Siap Kerja platform by connecting it with more companies to improve job matching and expand employment opportunities nationwide.
Director General of Employment Development and Job Placement Sugeng Heri Suseno said the AI Career Boost Day 2026 event runs for two days and will be followed by additional editions in August and September 2026.
He emphasized that AI is becoming one of the most important workforce competencies, with the potential to generate millions of new jobs. Beyond AI expertise, employers are increasingly seeking candidates with strong analytical thinking, communication abilities, and digital literacy.
The event features employers from multiple industries, including banking, manufacturing, food, property, transportation, and logistics, alongside speakers from the technology and business sectors.
GreatNusa Promotes Inclusive AI Learning
GreatNusa Chief Operating Officer Nita Felia said AI should be leveraged not only to improve productivity but also to create broader employment opportunities through continuous learning.
She explained that GreatEdu serves as a learning orchestrator, connecting government institutions, industry, universities, communities, and learners to expand equitable access to digital skills development.
Based on GreatNusa's engagement with communities across Indonesia, Nita noted that significant disparities in technology access remain, making cross-sector collaboration essential to ensure equal opportunities for AI education.
She encouraged continued cooperation between the Ministry of Manpower, Microsoft, Binus University, industry partners, and other stakeholders to expand AI education, strengthen online job fairs, and provide better career development support for Indonesians.
Nita stressed that while certifications are valuable, the true objective of learning is to improve people's ability to solve problems, increase productivity, and unlock better career opportunities.
