Jakarta, INTI - Achieving Indonesia’s national economic growth target of 8% will require contributions from multiple strategic sectors, including food, healthcare, and education.
Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Nezar Patria said that the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) technology can significantly enhance quality and productivity across these sectors.
He cited the food sector as an example, noting that AI can be leveraged to optimize agricultural output and strengthen supply chain resilience.
“AI can make agriculture more precise, enable accurate logistics forecasting, and support consistent monitoring,” he said during the White Paper Launch: Accelerating AI Adoption in Indonesia event in Central Jakarta on Thursday, January 29, 2026.
He added that the healthcare sector can also intensively adopt AI technology to improve access to and the quality of healthcare services.
AI to Enhance Education and Public Services
In the education sector, AI can make learning experiences more engaging through personalized learning platforms.
Beyond education, AI technology is also being utilized by the government to improve the quality and efficiency of public services.
Deputy Minister Nezar welcomed the release of the report titled “Accelerating AI Adoption in Indonesia,” which is expected to help accelerate AI adoption amid Indonesia’s rapidly evolving digital landscape.
"This report presents insights that go beyond analysis, offering meaningful guidance to transform research and ideas into practical AI adoption,” he said.
He expressed hope that the report would encourage industry players to lead AI adoption across key sectors, investors to support the scaling of innovation into market-ready solutions, and academics to continue nurturing future digital talent to advance AI development in Indonesia.
Conclusion
The government’s push for AI adoption across education, public services, and other strategic sectors highlights its role as a key driver of Indonesia’s economic growth. With clearer guidance, stronger collaboration among stakeholders, and sustained talent development, AI is expected to become a cornerstone of national productivity and innovation in the years ahead.
