Jakarta, INTI - Google has rolled out a new feature called Auto Browse, powered by its Gemini artificial intelligence, to the Chrome browser. The feature allows the browser to carry out automated tasks on behalf of users, including activities that involve multiple steps.
According to The Verge, Auto Brows enables Chrome to assist users with a wide range of digital tasks. Gemini can help research hotel and flight prices, schedule appointments, fill out online forms, manage subscriptions, and support online shopping based on a set budget.
Automating Everyday Browsing Tasks with Gemini
For shopping related activities, Gemini can also recognize objects or décor from a photo, search for similar products online, add them to a shopping cart, and automatically apply discount codes. Google noted that when a task requires users to sign in to a specific account, Gemini can securely handle the login process using Chrome’s built-in password manager.
Alongside this update, Gemini’s interface in Chrome has been redesigned. Instead of appearing as a pop-up window, Gemini is now displayed in a side panel on the right-hand side of the screen, making it easier to access while browsing.
In addition, Gemini in Chrome is now integrated with various Google services, including Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Maps, Google Shopping, and Google Flights. This integration allows the AI to access cross-application information and perform actions directly.
Google has also embedded Nano Banana, its AI-powered image creation and editing technology, into the Gemini panel in Chrome. Through this feature, users can edit images currently displayed on their screen using simple text commands.
Looking ahead, Google plans to introduce Personal Intelligence to Chrome, enabling Gemini to leverage conversation history and data from other Google services, with user consent.
