Jakarta, INTI - Digital Edge has announced the development of an AI-powered data center in Indonesia, backed by an investment of approximately Rp10 trillion, financed through a $665 million green funding initiative.
Strategic AI Data Center Project in Bekasi
The project aims to deliver high-performance digital infrastructure capable of handling intensive AI workloads while minimizing environmental impact.
The funding will support the initial phase of developing the CGK hyperscale data center campus, located within the Greenland International Industrial Center in Bekasi.
The CGK campus is designed to reach a total capacity of up to 500 megawatts, supporting the rapid growth of Indonesia’s digital ecosystem.
This facility is part of Digital Edge’s broader multi-phase investment plan, with a total value of up to $4.5 billion.
The data center is positioned to become one of the largest and most significant AI-driven hyperscale facilities in Indonesia.
Global Backing and Sustainability Focus
The project financing is supported by a consortium of global and domestic financial institutions, including BNP Paribas, Clifford Capital, Crédit Agricole CIB, DBS, Mizuho, OCBC, Bank Central Asia, and SMBC.
Digital Edge Chief Financial Officer Jonathan Walbridge stated, “This financing reinforces the company’s position as a leader in sustainable digital infrastructure.”
The investment comes amid rising demand for cloud services, large-scale data processing, and accelerating AI adoption across Indonesia.
The data center is engineered for high energy efficiency, targeting a Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) of 1.25, which is considered competitive within the industry.
Sustainability is also a key priority, with the implementation of water recycling systems and the use of renewable energy sources.
The project aligns with Indonesia’s Sustainable Finance Taxonomy and supports the national goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2060.
Conclusion
Digital Edge’s investment marks a significant milestone in strengthening Indonesia’s digital infrastructure, particularly in supporting AI and cloud growth. By combining hyperscale capacity with sustainable design, the project not only accelerates the national digital ecosystem but also aligns with long-term environmental goals, positioning Indonesia as a key digital hub in the region.
