DCII Launches 9 MW Data Center in Surabaya, Targets Eastern Indonesia Region

1 week ago | Data Center

Jakarta, INTI - PT DCI Indonesia Tbk (DCII), a leading data center operator, has officially inaugurated its E2 Data Center in Surabaya as a strategic move to provide world-class data center infrastructure in Eastern Indonesia.

DCII’s founder and CEO, Toto Sugiri, stated that the company’s data center infrastructure has been fully operational with the highest reliability, achieving a Service Level Agreement (SLA) of 99.999%, equivalent to a maximum of five minutes of downtime per year since 2013, without any recorded downtime.

"We believe this step is part of our strategy to expand global-standard data center infrastructure beyond Jakarta, contributing to the equitable distribution of national data center capacity, which has historically been concentrated in the capital," said Toto on Monday, April 6, 2026.

He added that the company’s newest facility has an IT capacity of 9 megawatts (MW). While modest compared to international hyperscale data centers, E2 Surabaya represents an important milestone in DCII’s long-term commitment to strengthening Indonesia’s data center foundation.

Supporting Digital Ecosystem and Regional Growth

"This facility enhances the national distribution of data center infrastructure, prepares scalable capacity for energy-intensive AI workloads or high-density applications, and provides redundancy for Jakarta, thereby minimizing risk through geographic diversification (geo-resilience) and enabling low-latency data traffic distribution," he explained.

The project was completed in under 12 months, totaling more than one million work hours without incident. All construction involved local industries and workforce, demonstrating that world-class data center development can coincide with regional economic empowerment.

"As the digital ecosystem in Eastern Indonesia continues to grow, we see the importance of providing capacity and quality of service early on as a foundation for future development," Toto emphasized.

Energy remains a crucial factor in the company’s expansion. Large-scale data center development requires a stable and abundant power supply. Toto noted that future facilities will prioritize industrial fringe areas with higher energy potential.

"With E2 now operational, our data centers are distributed across Jakarta, Cibitung, Karawang, and Surabaya. All facilities contribute to equitable digital infrastructure, strengthen local technology ecosystems, and support regional and national economic growth," he added.

Meanwhile, East Java Vice Governor Emil Elestianto Dardak highlighted the inauguration of a global-standard data center in East Java as a significant milestone.

"With data centers, businesses no longer need heavy investment in IT infrastructure. They can directly leverage cloud computing, machine learning, and AI efficiently," Emil said. He noted that East Java, which relies on trade, manufacturing, and services, needs accelerated digital adoption to compete nationally, regionally, and internationally.

"The E2 Surabaya facility is expected to further strengthen the technology ecosystem in East Java and Eastern Indonesia," he concluded.

Conclusion

The inauguration of DCII’s E2 Data Center in Surabaya marks a strategic milestone in expanding global-standard data center infrastructure beyond Jakarta. With a 9 MW IT capacity, offline redundancy for Jakarta, and integration with local industries, the facility strengthens the digital ecosystem in Eastern Indonesia, supports AI workloads, and promotes regional economic growth while demonstrating the government and private sector’s commitment to equitable digital infrastructure development.
