Jakarta, INTI – 9,September, 2025 The acceleration of digital transformation in Indonesia’s public services has now reached the health sector, particularly in licensing services for medical and healthcare professionals at the district and municipal levels. However, this digitalization push also comes with increasingly complex cybersecurity challenges. To address this, the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN) reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that the systems used in the National Digital Public Service Mall (MPPDN) remain secure, reliable, and compliant with standards.
Security Support for Digital Services
BSSN Head Nugroho Sulistyo Budi stated that the agency is fully prepared to provide comprehensive support in securing the digital licensing system for medical and healthcare professionals.
“BSSN is ready to support this program, particularly in the security aspect of licensing services through MPPDN at the district and municipal levels,” he said during a meeting at the Ministry of Health Office, South Jakarta, Tuesday, 9 Sept, 2025.
BSSN’s role in this program includes IT security testing, assistance in applying cybersecurity and cryptography standards, security audits, and the provision of electronic certification services. According to Nugroho, digitalizing healthcare licensing through MPPDN is a strategic step toward delivering public services that are faster, more efficient, and more transparent.
Escalating Cyber Threat Challenges
Despite its many benefits, digital transformation also faces significant security risks. Nugroho highlighted that cyber threats are becoming increasingly diverse and tangible, including the potential for zero-day exploits that take advantage of unforeseen vulnerabilities.
“The security concept should at least cover six main domains: protection, compliance, incident response, security audits, training, and awareness-building. These aspects must be implemented with clear divisions of responsibility,” he emphasized.
He further noted that cybersecurity is not a one-time product but a continuous process that must be managed with mature governance, regularly evaluated, audited, and strengthened through inter-agency collaboration.
Collaboration as the Key to Security
Nugroho further stressed the importance of cross-agency cooperation. “Security is not a product but a process. Collaboration between BSSN and relevant institutions is crucial to ensure the secure implementation of the MPPDN program,” he explained.
With this collaborative approach, BSSN is confident that the digitalization of medical licensing through MPPDN will not only improve the quality of public services but also safeguard national data sovereignty against potential cyberattacks.
Conclusion
BSSN’s involvement in supporting the implementation of MPPDN underscores that digital transformation of public services must go hand in hand with strengthened cybersecurity measures. Through rigorous testing, audits, and electronic certification, the medical licensing service is expected to serve as a model of secure, efficient, and sustainable digitalization in Indonesia.
