Jakarta, INTI - BINUS University has launched its Artificial Intelligence (AI) Program at BINUS @Bekasi, West Java, on Saturday, September 5, 2026. The program aims to expand access to AI education for young Indonesians while developing digital talent equipped with skills aligned with industry needs.
The initiative also strengthens BINUS @Bekasi’s position as a Business, Service, and Technology Campus, connecting technological expertise with the evolving needs of businesses, services, industries, and communities.
BINUS University Rector Nelly said AI education should go beyond improving individual competencies and should also encourage the development of innovations that create meaningful value for Indonesia.
“The expansion of our Artificial Intelligence program reflects BINUS University’s commitment to providing broader opportunities for Indonesia’s younger generation to master future technologies. We want them not only to become technology users, but also innovators capable of developing solutions and creating positive impact for society,” Nelly said at BINUS @Bekasi on Saturday, September 5, 2026.
Expanding AI Education for Future-Ready Talent
The program comes as Indonesia faces growing demand for digital talent. The Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs projects that the country will require around 12 million digital professionals by 2030, while an estimated gap of approximately three million talents still needs to be addressed.
AI adoption in the workplace is also accelerating. According to the Microsoft Work Trend Index 2026, 33% of Indonesian workers are classified as advanced AI users, more than twice the global average of 16%. The findings indicate that AI adoption is increasingly moving beyond basic tool usage toward more strategic applications in the workplace.
The Artificial Intelligence Program at BINUS @Bekasi is designed to go beyond technical proficiency. It also emphasizes academic foundations, critical thinking, business understanding, and awareness of ethical and responsible AI implementation.

BINUS @Bekasi Campus Director Gatot Soepriyanto said the program provides students with opportunities to explore AI within real-world industrial and business contexts.
According to Gatot, Bekasi has a rapidly evolving industrial, business, and service ecosystem. This makes the Artificial Intelligence Program highly relevant, as students can learn how technology can be applied to address real needs within their surrounding environment.
“We want AI education to go beyond technological understanding and be translated into solutions that create value for industries, businesses, and society,” Gatot said.
The program also brings AI education closer to young people in Bekasi and surrounding areas, providing a learning environment connected to developments in business and industry.

Sanny Jovita, a BINUS University alumna who currently works as a Solution Architect at Alibaba, said her experience working on projects and collaborating with different stakeholders has been an important foundation throughout her professional career. She noted that the professional world requires strong adaptability as technology and working methods continue to evolve rapidly.
