BSSN Emphasizes Strengthening National Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Resilience

18 hours ago | Digital Technology

Jakarta, INTI - Badan Siber dan Sandi Negara (BSSN) emphasized the importance of developing skilled human resources, strengthening cross-sector collaboration, and adopting advanced technologies to enhance Indonesia’s national cyber resilience. The strategic direction was highlighted during a National Forum held in Jakarta on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, as reported by Investor Daily.

The Indonesian government has positioned digital infrastructure, including data centers, artificial intelligence (AI), and cybersecurity, as key pillars of national development. This strategy aligns with Presidential Regulation No. 4/2026 on the Economic Growth Acceleration Task Force, which aims to support the country’s target of achieving 8 percent economic growth.

BSSN Deputy Head Rahmat Subagio explained that cyber threats continue to evolve rapidly and increasingly target critical sectors across Indonesia.

“Cyber threats know no boundaries and continue to evolve, ranging from ransomware and Advanced Persistent Threats (APT) to attacks on critical infrastructure,” Rahmat said.

According to Rahmat, Indonesia requires a holistic approach that integrates early detection capabilities with rapid response systems. Investment in Security Operations Centers (SOC) and the development of cybersecurity talent should become national priorities to protect the country’s digital sovereignty.

The Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs also views digital transformation as a key foundation for realizing Indonesia Emas 2045.

“Resilient digital infrastructure, including data centers, AI, and cybersecurity, will become the foundation supporting Indonesia’s sustainable economic growth,” said Ali Murtopo Simbolon, Deputy for Trade and Digital Economy Coordination at Indonesia’s Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs.

Cross-Sector Collaboration Becomes Key to Cyber Resilience

Meanwhile, Indonesia’s Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs stated that strengthening digital connectivity is no longer optional but has become a strategic national necessity.

“Collaboration between government, industry, and associations is essential to ensure Indonesia becomes not only a technology consumer, but also an active player in the global digital ecosystem,” emphasized Aju Widia Sari, Director of Artificial Intelligence and New Technology Ecosystem at the Ministry’s Directorate General of Digital Ecosystem.

The exclusive forum, attended by around 200 industry leaders and regulators, also marked the official soft launching of the DTI Series 2026 and the Cyber Resilience & Defense Conference & Expo (CRD-CX) 2026.

Organizers stated that the platform is intended to serve as a sustainable forum for policy dialogue and the acceleration of national technology development.

“Through this forum, we want to ensure that every stakeholder, from regulators and technology providers to infrastructure operators and enterprise end-users, has the opportunity to contribute to building a resilient, secure, and globally competitive digital ecosystem,” concluded Gad Permata.

Conclusion

Indonesia is accelerating efforts to strengthen its national cyber resilience through investment in digital infrastructure, cybersecurity talent, and cross-sector collaboration. As cyber threats continue to evolve alongside rapid digital transformation, cooperation between government, industry, and technology stakeholders will be essential to building a secure, resilient, and globally competitive digital ecosystem that supports the country’s long-term economic growth ambitions.
