Advanced Innovation: 43 Robots Assist Seniors at Beijing Nursing Home

3 weeks ago | Digital Health

Jakarta, INTI - A nursing home on Ronghua Road in Beijing, China, has transformed into a facility of the future. Equipped with 43 types of advanced robots, ranging from massage and acupuncture robots to tea-making machines, the center aims to significantly enhance the quality of life for elderly residents.

World’s First Smart Robotic Nursing Home Launched

In mid-March 2026, the world’s first smart robotic nursing home was officially inaugurated in the Beijing E-Town Economic and Technological Development Zone. Spanning 1,100 square meters across four floors, the facility integrates 43 product lines from 23 leading robotics companies.

At the third-floor experience area, Ms. Wu, who previously suffered from a knee injury, shared how much the stair-assist device has helped her. “This tool is extremely useful for people with weak limbs. The massage sensations on the back and neck are also very relaxing, making the body feel much lighter,” she said enthusiastically.

A similar sentiment was expressed by Zhuang Lei (80), who was pleasantly surprised to receive both massage services and singing entertainment from a robot. “It’s so enjoyable here that time passes very quickly,” he said, laughing as he watched a robot dog move energetically.

AI-Powered Therapy and Changing Perceptions

One of the facility’s main highlights is the AI-powered moxibustion robot. According to Xia Jing, Director of Shijie Qiusuo, the device uses intelligent algorithms to accurately identify acupuncture points, enabling safe and smoke-free rehabilitation therapy.

Ms. Zhang (72), one of the residents, admitted that her perception of technology has changed. “I used to think robots were unfamiliar, but in reality, they are very approachable. Even smart cashier machines have clear voice instructions, which are very practical,” she explained.

Huo Huayu, a representative from Xinggong Jujiang Smart Technology, stated that this care station model provides real-world data for technology companies to continuously improve products such as electric wheelchairs and automated cleaning machines.

Conclusion

This innovative nursing home highlights how robotics and AI are reshaping elderly care, offering not only practical assistance but also emotional comfort, while paving the way for smarter, more human-centered healthcare solutions in the future.
