In the second session of Inti Talk, the discussion focuses on one of the most pressing issues in Indonesia’s telecommunications sector: the regulatory imbalance between local Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and global satellite-based service providers.
Local ISPs are required to comply with a wide range of obligations, including infrastructure development, fiber optic deployment, and adherence to domestic regulatory frameworks. In contrast, satellite-based providers often operate under comparatively fewer regulatory constraints, raising concerns about a potentially uneven competitive landscape.
The discussion also addresses the growing prevalence of illegal RT/RW network operations and the emerging gray market for satellite-based internet services. If left unregulated, these developments may pose risks to industry stability and long-term ecosystem sustainability.
