Jakarta, INTI – XLSmart continues to demonstrate its commitment to delivering reliable and equitable communication services across Indonesia. Through the expansion of its network and infrastructure in the Aceh Province, XLSmart aims to accelerate digital development even in remote areas that previously had limited or no internet access.
Expanding Digital Access to Remote Areas
The network expansion in Aceh is part of the company’s broader strategy to drive digital transformation in western Indonesia. Jeremiah Ratadhi, Director & Chief People Officer of XLSmart, stated that the company is now focused on reaching underserved areas that have long struggled with internet connectivity.
“Communities that previously had difficulty accessing the internet can now enjoy the same level of service as those in major cities, thanks to improved infrastructure and network coverage,” said Jeremiah in an official statement on Monday, June, 23, 2025.
Network Integration After XL Axiata and Smartfren Merger
This expansion follows the merger between XL Axiata and Smartfren, forming the new entity known as XLSmart. The company emphasized that network integration is a key part of its transformation efforts to ensure equitable communication access nationwide.
By combining the strengths of the two major operators, XLSmart aims to deliver stronger, wider, and higher-quality communication services to the public. This transformation also opens greater opportunities in education, business, and digital communication, especially in regions previously left behind.
Extensive Coverage with Flexible Services
As of now, XLSmart’s network in Aceh covers 208 sub districts across 22 cities/regencies, including remote islands such as Simeulue, Sabang, Breueh, and Nasi. In total, there are 2,750 base transceiver stations (BTS), the majority of which are already operating on 4G networks.
Boosting Local Economic Growth
Improved communication access in Aceh not only brings technological benefits but is also expected to positively impact local economic growth. With better connectivity, communities can more easily communicate, grow their businesses, and access educational resources and information.
This initiative is a concrete step by XLSmart to contribute to Indonesia’s push for equitable national digital transformation.
Conclusion:
Through its network expansion and infrastructure integration in Aceh, XLSmart reinforces its commitment to advancing digitization across Indonesia. By reaching remote areas, the company not only delivers more equitable communication services but also paves the way for greater economic development and broader digital inclusion.
