Jakarta, INTI - Social platform X released a separate application for its private messaging feature. The chatting application, named X Chat, was tested via Apple's TestFlight. The initial beta quota sold out within two hours, demonstrating the high level of interest from iOS users.
Michael Boswell, Product Designer at X, stated that the initial limit of 1,000 users will soon be increased to 5,000 and will continue to expand.
The app, which had been in development for several months, encouraged early testers to explore the features and provide comprehensive feedback. Early screenshots showed a simpler interface and a possible name change to "xChat”.
X Chat’s Security Concern
However, security remained a concern. Experts question whether X Chat’s encryption system can match established platforms like Signal. But the app has yet to show clear evidence of its data protection concerns.
X Chat will sync chat conversations across the X platform, such as the web version and iOS app, with a version for Android to come soon.
