Saudi Arabia Presents Digital Health Services and Smart Navigation Applications to Improve the Hajj Experience

1 year ago | Digital Health

Jakarta, INTI – The Government of Saudi Arabia continues to innovate in improving the comfort and safety of pilgrims. Welcoming the 1446 Hijri Hajj season, various advanced technologies are presented, ranging from integrated digital health services to navigation applications developed by students. This step reflects Saudi Arabia's commitment to providing a safe, modern and efficient worship experience, in line with Saudi Vision 2030.

24-Hour Virtual Health Service for Pilgrims

One of the main breakthroughs is the 24-hour virtual health service that is available in seven languages, including Indonesian. Pilgrims can access this service through number 937, the Sehhaty application, and social media platform X (formerly Twitter). This service allows pilgrims to consult about their health conditions without having to come directly to a medical facility.

Consultations can be done via audio, video, or text, and pilgrims can also upload medical test results and receive electronic prescriptions if needed. Simply by registering using the border number on the Sehhaty app, pilgrims can experience a practical and integrated digital health service.

This service is supported by more than 300 permanent and temporary health facilities spread across the Makkah and Madinah areas. In addition, Seha Virtual Hospital also strengthens the Consult Plus service, which accelerates medical response in the field and helps make faster and more informed decisions.

Musaed: A Navigation App from Students for Pilgrims

Not only from the government, support for pilgrims also comes from the academic world. A group of students from King Abdulaziz University, led by Hassan Al-Sulami, developed the Musaed app, an innovation that helps pilgrims find campsites and navigate crowded areas to avoid getting lost during the pilgrimage.

The app is scheduled to be presented at the Hajj and Umrah Conference, while seeking sponsors for official implementation. The development team also plans to integrate Musaed into the Nusuk Hajj platform, the main digital platform used in the management of Hajj and Umrah.

Makkah Route Initiative: Integrated System Accelerates Arrival Services

Saudi Arabia also continues to strengthen the logistical and security aspects of the Hajj journey through the Makkah Route Initiative program. President of the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), Dr. Abdullah bin Sharaf Al-Ghamdi, recently reviewed the implementation of this initiative at King Abdulaziz International Airport, Jeddah as well as Adi Soemarmo Airport, Solo.

The program, which has been running for seven years, is the result of cooperation between various institutions, including the Ministries of Interior, Health, Hajj and Umrah, and SDAIA. The aim is to speed up the arrival process of pilgrims with an integrated digital system, while supporting the Pilgrim Experience Program, one of the main pillars of Saudi Vision 2030.

During his visit, Dr. Al-Ghamdi emphasized the importance of continuing to innovate and utilize technology as the main foundation in improving the quality of Hajj services in the future.

Conclusion

Saudi Arabia's innovative measures for the 1446 Hajj season demonstrate a strong determination to provide a more comfortable, safe, and modern worship experience for pilgrims. From multilingual digital health services, innovative student-made navigation applications, to an integrated system to accelerate the arrival of pilgrims, all are designed to answer the challenges of large-scale worship in a smart and efficient manner. This is clear evidence that technology is now an important part in supporting the smooth running of the Hajj pilgrimage.
