Jakarta, INTI - PT Perusahaan Gas Negara Tbk (PGN) has obtained the ISO 55001 Asset Management System certification from the British Standards Institution Group Indonesia for its South Sumatera–West Java (SSWJ) transmission infrastructure and gas distribution network.

The certification serves as international recognition of PGN’s capability in managing natural gas infrastructure with high standards of reliability, efficiency, safety, and operational excellence.

PGN Corporate Secretary Fajriyah Usman stated that the implementation of ISO 55001 plays a crucial role in ensuring that the company’s gas infrastructure is managed and operated in a systematic, organized, effective, and sustainable manner.

“This achievement reflects international recognition of PGN’s natural gas infrastructure management,” said Fajriyah.

She explained that the adoption of ISO 55001 provides a strong foundation for the company to optimize asset management while improving service quality for customers.

“Through a structured asset management approach, PGN is able to enhance operational effectiveness while optimizing the company’s operational costs,” she added.

PGN Infrastructure Expands Across Indonesia

ISO 55001 is an international standard for asset management governance designed to help companies maximize value from their assets.

The standard is increasingly relevant as PGN, a gas subholding of PT Pertamina Persero, manages an extensive network of natural gas infrastructure across Indonesia.

Currently, PGN dominates the national natural gas trading market with a market share of 91.36 percent.

The company operates across 18 provinces and 78 cities/regencies nationwide.

PGN also serves more than 822,000 customers supported by a national gas pipeline network spanning over 33,490 kilometers.

Together with its subsidiaries and affiliates, PGN manages various strategic gas infrastructures, including the SSWJ transmission pipeline, gas distribution pipelines, the Gresik–Semarang transmission pipeline, FSRU Lampung, FSRU West Java, Arun LNG Hub, SPBG facilities, and CNG mother stations.

Strengthening Operational Reliability and National Energy Security

The implementation of ISO 55001 is expected to further strengthen PGN’s performance in maintaining asset integrity and optimizing infrastructure asset management.

The standard also supports risk mitigation efforts and helps prevent potential incidents that could impact customers and company operations.

In its infrastructure operation and maintenance activities, PGN continues to ensure operational reliability and cost efficiency by strengthening collaboration with subsidiaries, affiliates, and stakeholders.

Fajriyah emphasized PGN’s commitment to continuously improving the governance and capability of its natural gas infrastructure management in the future.

“A well-organized management approach enables every investment decision to carefully balance cost, risk, and performance considerations,” she said.

According to her, the approach is expected to directly improve infrastructure reliability and support the company’s long-term business sustainability.

The ISO 55001 certification is also expected to reinforce PGN’s capability in managing reliable, secure, and internationally standardized gas infrastructure while supporting excellent services for customers across sectors and strengthening national energy resilience.

Conclusion

PGN’s ISO 55001 certification highlights the company’s commitment to strengthening reliable, efficient, and sustainable natural gas infrastructure management while supporting Indonesia’s long-term energy security.
