Jakarta, INTI – Pegatron, a global technology company, officially opened its AI and 5G-based smart manufacturing facility in Batam, Riau Islands, on Thursday, April 24th, 2025. This facility marks an important milestone in Pegatron’s global digital transformation strategy, as well as in strengthening the manufacturing ecosystem in Indonesia. In collaboration with Telkomsel, Pegatron has introduced an advanced manufacturing solution that integrates the latest technology.
Strategic Collaboration with Telkomsel
The smart factory, PT Pegaunihan Technology Indonesia, was developed through a strategic partnership between Pegatron and Telkomsel. This collaboration brings the 5G Private Network Standalone, which enables the manufacturing operations to run efficiently and in real-time. Gary Cheng, President and CEO of Pegatron, emphasized that working with Telkomsel, the pioneer of 5G in Indonesia, is a key foundation for accelerating the digital transformation of the manufacturing industry.
Telkomsel also provides up to 1,200 SIM cards for IoT devices, enabling the integration of thousands of sensors and machines, supporting automation and data-driven analytics across every production line.

The opening of Pegatron's smart factory aligns with the positive momentum in Indonesia’s manufacturing sector. This sector, which contributed 18.98% to the national GDP in 2024, is expected to grow by 5.2 percent in 2025.
