Jakarta, INTI - Modena Energy inaugurated a rooftop solar power plant (PLTS) installation in an industrial area owned by PT Multi Nitrotama Kimia (MNK) in Cikampek, West Java.
The PLTS has a capacity of 307.5 kWp and is projected to generate approximately 400,000 kWh of electricity per year while contributing to a reduction in carbon emissions of up to 360,000 kg of CO2 per year.
Head of Modena Energy, Agiya Fersya, stated that the collaboration with MNK is a strategic step for Modena Energy to support the use of solar energy and accelerate the clean energy transition in Indonesia's industrial sector.
"Many industrial players are turning to PLTS because it not only strengthens their commitment to sustainability but also provides long-term operational cost efficiencies and supports a more stable energy supply. Through comprehensive PLTS solutions, Modena Energy is ready to support these needs," said Agiya.
The rooftop solar power system implemented at MNK uses an on-grid scheme, integrated with the PLN electricity grid. Through this system, daytime electricity needs can be met by solar energy, while PLN's grid supply remains available when needed. For the industrial sector, this scheme is a solution that can increase energy efficiency without disrupting operational reliability.
Supporting the National Energy Transition
MNK is a subsidiary of PT Ancora Indonesia Resources Tbk, which aims to expand the use of renewable energy across its business lines. Susilo Yuwono, General Manager of Manufacturing at MNK, said this project will support the national energy transition and the government's program towards the Net Zero Emission target.
"This project provides tangible benefits through increased energy efficiency and reduced operational electricity costs. We hope this initiative will not only strengthen the company's competitiveness but also serve as a foundation for the implementation of clean energy solutions across all Ancora business units," said Susilo.
Susilo added that MNK is committed to continuing to make a significant contribution to environmental conservation and sustainable industrial development.
The use of solar-based energy in the industrial sector is expected to continue to grow in the coming years. This aligns with the government's target to increase the role of PLTS as a primary power source in the national energy mix. Many industrial players are beginning to utilize PLTS as a strategy to improve energy efficiency, control operational costs, and strengthen business competitiveness amidst increasing energy demand.
This trend is reflected in the Indonesia Solar Energy Outlook (ISEO) 2025, which lists the industrial sector as the largest contributor to additional rooftop PLTS capacity throughout 2024. By the end of July 2024, approximately 104 MWp of new rooftop PLTS capacity had been installed in the industrial sector. This growth is driven by the increasing need for companies to improve operational efficiency and meet decarbonization and sustainability targets.
