Jakarta, INTI - The Ministry of Manpower is preparing a skilled workforce to meet the growing demands of green jobs and sustainable industries, including Indonesia’s rapidly expanding electric vehicle (EV) sector.
Deputy Minister of Manpower Afriansyah Noor stated that the transition toward a green economy has become unavoidable alongside the significant growth of the electric vehicle industry in recent years.
“The rapid market expansion over the past three years has directly increased the demand for workers with expertise in electric automotive technology, digitalization, and supporting skills for green industries,” Afriansyah Noor said in Jakarta on Wednesday.
Electric Vehicle Sales Continue to Surge
According to data from GAIKINDO (Gabungan Industri Kendaraan Bermotor Indonesia), electric vehicle sales in Indonesia rose sharply from around 10,000 units in 2022 to more than 100,000 units in 2025.
Afriansyah Noor, widely known as Ferry, explained that the government under President Prabowo Subianto is committed to strengthening high-quality human resource development to support the vision of Golden Indonesia 2045.
He noted that one of the government’s strategic priorities is reinforcing vocational education through closer collaboration with industry players.
Ministry Partners with Hyundai to Strengthen Vocational Training
The Ministry of Manpower has partnered with Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (HMMI) to support the development of electric vehicle-based automotive vocational training programs.
“In 2023, HMMI donated five vehicles to support automotive vocational training development at BBPVP Bandung. This is a concrete example of the strategic collaboration we hope will continue and be followed by other companies,” he said.
The partnership is expected to improve workforce competencies while creating new employment opportunities in the automotive and green industry sectors.
“Synergy between the government, industry, and training institutions is essential for Indonesia to develop a productive workforce capable of meeting future challenges in green jobs,” Ferry added.
Conclusion
Indonesia is accelerating the development of skilled talent for green industries and electric vehicles through stronger collaboration between government, industry, and vocational institutions to support the country’s transition toward a sustainable economy.
