Komdigi Launches Garuda Spark Medan to Develop Digital Talent in a Directed and Sustainable Manner

Jakarta, INTI – The challenge of digital talent gaps in Indonesia remains a crucial issue, and the need to prepare industry-ready human resources is becoming more urgent. Responding to this urgency, the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs officially launched the third Garuda Spark Innovation Hub in Medan, North Sumatra on Saturday,November,8,2025, as an acceleration space to connect local digital talent with the industry ecosystem and investors. This initiative also serves as a strategic solution to strengthen Medan’s contribution to the national digital economy, which has continued to grow rapidly in recent years.

Medan Chosen for Its Strong Digital Talent Potential

Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs, Meutya Hafid, emphasized that Medan has great creativity and a strong contribution to Indonesia’s digital economy growth. Therefore, the establishment of Garuda Spark is seen as a strategic step to connect creative local talent with industry players and investors who are ready to support and develop this potential into real business opportunities.

A Place to Meet, Network and Build Business

Garuda Spark Innovation Hub is not only a collaborative workspace, but also a meeting point for startups, industry, and investors. Director General for Digital Ecosystem at Komdigi, Edwin Hidayat Abdullah, stated that the innovation hub is part of the government’s vision to nurture startups and strengthen digital talent through training, capacity building, and business matching.

Targeting 2 Million Digital Talents in Five Years

Komdigi aims to develop two million digital talents and two million techpreneurs within the next five years. Specifically for Medan, the target contribution is 5 percent of that total. Garuda Spark provides complete facilities ranging from classrooms, meeting rooms, high-speed internet, to mentoring networks and investor access to accelerate talent development.

Turning Ideas into Real Impact

The program will be implemented in three phases foundation, activation, and ecosystem integration & expansion using the principle of “locally adapted, nationally coordinated.” Through the tagline “From Spark to Impact,” Garuda Spark Innovation Hub is expected to transform simple ideas into real solutions that deliver social and economic impact for society.
