9 months ago | Digital Technology

Jakarta, INTI – Commemorating the 80th Anniversary of Indonesia’s Independence, the Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi) has highlighted the importance of national sovereignty in the digital realm. On this historic occasion, Komdigi aims to ensure that all citizens can enjoy equitable access to communication and digital technology for inclusive prosperity.

Secretary General of Komdigi, Ismail, stated, “The Ministry of Communication and Digital is present to ensure that all citizens, especially the underprivileged, can benefit from equitable digital access and technology that serves the people.”

Development of Digital Infrastructure and Human Resources

Komdigi is committed to creating an inclusive, secure, and effective digital ecosystem. Key strategic achievements include:

  • Construction of 4G BTS in 3T Areas (Frontier, Outermost, and Underdeveloped regions)
  • Provision of Public Internet Services
  • Strengthening the Palapa Ring Network

In terms of human resource development, Komdigi offers training through the Digital Talent Scholarship and has recently launched the AI Talent Factory to enhance the digital capabilities of Indonesia’s youth.

Protecting Citizens in the Digital Space

Komdigi also emphasizes the importance of protecting society online. This year, access to more than 1.2 million negative content items was blocked, and regulations implementing the Personal Data Protection Law have begun to take effect. Child protection is ensured through PP Tunas, which requires age verification, content monitoring, and reporting systems on digital platforms.

Technology for National Unity and Excellence

Ismail stressed that the 80th Independence Day should serve as a momentum to strengthen Indonesia’s digital sovereignty. “Technology must provide real benefits for the people, preserve national unity, and enhance Indonesia’s prestige in the global arena,” he said.

Conclusion

At 80 years of independence, Indonesia continues efforts to ensure safe and equitable digital access for all citizens. Komdigi emphasizes infrastructure development, human resource empowerment, and citizen protection as strategic steps to make technology a tool for empowerment and national unity.
