Kemkomdigi Encourages Young Generation to Use Technology Wisely in Batam

6 months ago | Digital Technology

Jakarta, INTI – The lack of digital proficiency among the younger generation has become a major challenge in an era of information overload that often triggers panic and misunderstanding. Addressing this issue, the Ministry of Communication and Digital (Kemkomdigi) presented a solution by strengthening digital literacy during the CommuniAction 2025 event held on Thursday, 27, November, 2025 in Batam, Riau Islands. The event served as a platform for young creators to understand their strategic role in maintaining a healthy digital ecosystem. Through this forum, the government emphasized the importance of smart, creative, and responsible communication. The momentum also reaffirmed the position of young people as future leaders amid the rapid growth of technology and artificial intelligence (AI).

Young Generation and Their Responsibility in the Digital Space

The Director of Public Information at Kemkomdigi, Nursodik Gunarjo, stated that the future of Indonesia’s public communication lies in the hands of young people who are able to combine innovation with digital ethics. “This is where innovation and creativity meet public responsibility,” he said.
Nursodik underscored that today’s challenges are increasingly complex as society lives in an era of information tsunami, where short messages spread rapidly and create unrest without verification. Many pieces of information never actually occurred, yet are misunderstood and widely circulated.
This effort also contributes to realizing Indonesia Emas 2045 an Indonesia that is economically advanced and mature in digital communication.

The Threat of Misinformation in the Fast-Scroll Era

Expert Staff to the Director General of KPM at Kemkomdigi, Latief Siregar, warned that public reputation can collapse in a matter of seconds.
A single fragment of information shared without context can trigger a storm of perception. According to Latief, people today tend to trust an “eight-second video” more than an eight-page official report. Therefore, digital literacy has become a necessity for all segments of society.

The Role of Communication as a Policy Determinant

Batam City Secretary, Firmansyah, emphasized that public communication is a strategic instrument of development.
In an era of rapid digital transformation, communication errors are not merely misinformation but can lead to misguided policymaking.
Therefore, planned communication must become a shared work culture among the government, the public, and the media.

Conclusion

CommuniAction 2025 underscores the urgent need for digital proficiency among the younger generation amidst the rapid advancement of technology and AI. By improving digital literacy, strengthening cross-sector collaboration, and understanding the dynamics of fast-moving information, young people are expected to become smart and responsible digital leaders. Kemkomdigi’s efforts further reinforce the foundation of public communication toward Indonesia Emas 2045.
