Jakarta, INTI - Indonesia’s Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) and the Indonesian National Police (Polri) have strengthened their collaboration to prepare a new generation equipped with Artificial Intelligence (AI) skills through preventive digital education.
The initiative was formalized with the signing of a cooperation agreement between the Ministry’s Directorate General of Secondary and Special Education and Polri, providing the foundation for the implementation of the Paham AI Training of Trainers (ToT) Program.
Building AI Literacy and Digital Character
Director General of Secondary and Special Education, Tatang Muttaqin, said the rapid pace of digital transformation has fundamentally changed how people learn and think.
He noted that AI offers significant opportunities to improve educational quality and productivity, but also presents challenges such as cybercrime, misinformation, privacy risks, ethical concerns, and the misuse of technology.
Under the Paham AI Program, police personnel from 12 regional police offices will receive specialized training before delivering AI literacy programs to high school, vocational school, and equivalent students in their respective regions.
Muttaqin emphasized that digital competency extends beyond technical skills. Equally important is developing strong digital character so students can use AI responsibly, ethically, and for the benefit of society. He also highlighted the importance of cross-sector collaboration in building a safe and trusted digital ecosystem while ensuring Indonesia’s education system remains aligned with technological advancements.
Training AI Educators for the Future
Head of Polri’s Technology and Communications Bureau, Indarto, described the Training of Trainers program as a long-term initiative to improve AI literacy among both students and teachers.
He noted that AI adoption among young people is advancing faster than regulatory frameworks, making preventive education increasingly important.
According to Indarto, the program also aims to strengthen trust between law enforcement, educators, and students by positioning Polri as both an educational partner and facilitator.
Through the Paham AI Program, Kemendikdasmen and Polri are laying the foundation for AI literacy from an early stage of education, with the goal of developing a digitally skilled generation capable of using artificial intelligence responsibly, ethically, and effectively in an increasingly digital society.
