Infra Fiber Teknologi to Manage Indosat's Fiber Network Assets Under Hashim Group

8 hours ago | Network Infrastructure

Jakarta, INTI - Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison and Arsari Group have officially launched PT Infra Fiber Teknologi (IFT), a new company that will manage an 86,000-kilometer fiber network spanning backbone infrastructure, domestic submarine cables, and access networks across Indonesia.

The fiber assets, previously owned by Indosat, have been transferred to an investment platform backed by Arsari Group, founded by Hashim Djojohadikusumo, and Northstar Group. Despite the transfer, Indosat retains a strategic stake and continues to participate in IFT.

Operating under an independent governance structure and an open-access business model, IFT aims to expand wholesale partnerships with telecommunications operators, enterprises, hyperscalers, and digital service providers to accelerate the availability of high-quality connectivity nationwide.

"By delivering world-class fiber infrastructure through an independent open-access platform led by industry experts, we want to ensure that the benefits of AI, cloud services, and next-generation digital technologies are accessible to more people across Indonesia. This is technology for everyone," said Vikram Sinha, President Director and CEO of Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison.

The launch also marks the completion of a strategic transaction that began with an investment agreement signed in December 2025. Under the agreement, Indosat and PT Aplikanusa Lintasarta transferred their ownership in IFT to PT Nusantara Fiber Teknologi (NFT), Arsari Group's investment platform.

Although the transaction has been finalized, Indosat and PT Aplikanusa Lintasarta collectively retain a 49.9% ownership stake in NFT, allowing Indosat to monetize its fiber assets while maintaining a long-term strategic interest in the business.

The transaction generated approximately Rp11.7 trillion in gross proceeds for the Indosat Group. The company plans to use the funds to strengthen its core business, including expanding connectivity, accelerating 5G deployment, and developing digital services to support the growing AI era.

Supporting AI and Digital Infrastructure Growth

According to Aryo P.S. Djojohadikusumo, Deputy CEO and COO of Arsari Group, IFT is designed to strengthen Indonesia's digital infrastructure while supporting long-term economic growth.

"We have assembled leaders who understand not only how to build and operate infrastructure at scale, but also why it matters for connected communities, empowered businesses, and Indonesia's future digital economy," he said.

IFT will be led by Hendri Mulya Syam, a telecommunications executive with previous leadership experience at Indosat Ooredoo and Telkomsel. He emphasized that the company's mission extends beyond serving already well-connected regions.

"We are building infrastructure that reaches underserved areas, providing reliable digital access for communities while empowering businesses that drive Indonesia's economy across the archipelago," Hendri said.

Going forward, IFT plans to expand fiber deployment, particularly in regions with limited connectivity, while strengthening partnerships with telecommunications operators, cloud providers, hyperscalers, and other digital industry players.

Its open-access model is expected to improve network investment efficiency, enhance the resilience of Indonesia's telecommunications infrastructure, and accelerate the nationwide rollout of high-speed internet services.

Conclusion

The establishment of Infra Fiber Teknologi marks a significant step in strengthening Indonesia's digital infrastructure. By combining an open-access fiber network with strategic investments in connectivity, 5G, cloud services, and AI, the partnership aims to accelerate digital transformation and expand reliable internet access across the country.
