Jakarta, INTI – The global demand for easier, faster, and more personalized travel experiences has grown significantly in recent years. Responding to this shift, the Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Indonesia officially introduced the Meticulous Artificial Intelligence of Indonesia (MaiA) as an innovative solution for travel planning. The technology was launched during the event Transforming Travel Beyond Ordinary Through Intelligence in Jakarta on Friday, November, 28, 2025, marking a strategic step to strengthen tourism services and boost Indonesia’s competitiveness on the global stage. The launch is expected to serve as a turning point in delivering smarter, more relevant tourism services aligned with modern needs.
AI MaiA Features That Simplify Travel Planning
MaiA is an AI-powered digital curator designed to help travelers plan their trips more comprehensively from seeking inspiration and choosing destinations to instantly generating travel routes.
Its key features include:

All these features are designed to make travel experiences more efficient and accessible for both domestic and international tourists.
Government’s Commitment to Advancing Smart Tourism
Indonesia’s Minister of Tourism, Widiyanti Putri Wardhana, emphasized that MaiA is a direct response to shifting global traveler behaviors, which increasingly demand fast and personalized services.
“The launch of MaiA reflects the government’s commitment to building a smart, inclusive, and sustainable tourism ecosystem,” Widiyanti said in her remarks.

International Push and an Ambitious 2026 Target
The Deputy Minister for Marketing at the Ministry of Tourism, Ni Made Ayu Marthini, explained that the adoption of AI became an essential step following recommendations from UN Tourism regarding the use of artificial intelligence in the tourism industry.
With the introduction of MaiA, Indonesia is now among the six National Tourism Organizations (NTOs) worldwide that have implemented AI technology, alongside South Korea, Japan, Switzerland, Singapore, and Thailand.
The technology is also expected to support efforts to achieve the target of 17.60 million international visitors in 2026, while helping travelers discover hidden gems across the country more easily.
