National Digital Forum ready to be held in Jakarta
Jakarta, INTI - Indonesia's digital world is preparing to welcome a major forum that will bring together internet and telecommunications industry players from across the country. Titled Indonesia Digital Forum 2025 (IDF 2025), the event is scheduled to take place on May 15-16, 2025 at the JW Marriott Hotel, Jakarta, and will discuss various challenges and opportunities in developing the national digital ecosystem.
Three Associations Sign Joint MoU
This agenda is the result of cooperation between the Indonesian Internet Domain Name Management Association (PANDI), the Indonesian Internet Service Providers Association (APJII), and the All Indonesia Telecommunications Association (ATSI). The agreement to hold this forum was officially outlined in the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Wednesday, March 5, 2025.
A Push to Accelerate National Digitalization
PANDI Chairman, John Sihar Simanjuntak, explained that this forum will be an important discussion space to discuss the governance of internet and telecommunication services in the community. He stressed the importance of collaboration between associations to accelerate the development of digitalization in Indonesia. “We are talking about how the process of developing digitalization in Indonesia can run faster and better,” he said in a press conference after the MoU signing.
From Discussion to Real Solution
According to John, one of the main objectives of this forum is for the government to hear directly the problems faced by industry players. Hopefully, the discussions that take place during the forum will not stop as discourse, but can give birth to real follow-up and concrete solutions. “The result is follow-up, not just chatting,” he added.
Forum Open to Other Associations
The forum is designed in a focus group discussion (FGD) format, so that each participant can be actively involved in discussing specific issues in the digital sector. APJII Chairman, Muhammad Arif, said that the forum is still open for other associations to join before the event starts. He believes that the more parties involved, the greater the voice and input that can be given to the government. “We hope to produce points that provide input to the development of the digital economy in all cross-sector ministries,” Arif said.
Digital Industry Unity
Meanwhile, ATSI Vice Chairman Merza Fachys positively welcomed this initiative. He assessed that this forum could become a unifying forum for the digital industry in Indonesia and become a constructive dialog space between associations. “The result is to become a government policy, how to make this digital sector alive,” he said.
Conclusion:
Indonesia Digital Forum 2025 is an important momentum to strengthen the synergy between internet service providers, telecommunications, and the government in building a national digital ecosystem. With an open and participatory discussion format, this forum is expected to produce real solutions to digitalization challenges and encourage policies that are more inclusive and oriented to industry needs. This cross-association collaboration is a strategic step towards a faster, more equitable and sustainable digital transformation in Indonesia.
