Jakarta, INTI - HiFi Air has emerged as a new flagship solution from Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison (IOH) to address limited internet access in underserved areas by leveraging Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) technology. The device is capable of delivering speeds of up to 100 Mbps.
This performance is based on network tests conducted using the Speedtest application. Across three trials, the HiFi Air 5G device consistently recorded internet speeds ranging between 60 Mbps and 100 Mbps.
Targeting 11 Million Non Fiber Households
SVP-Head of FWA Business at IOH, Beka Faryan Riangka, stated that HiFi Air is designed as a practical alternative for areas without fiber-optic infrastructure, while still offering a home broadband like experience.
“This solution does not require fiber access. It runs on our extensive 5G network coverage, as well as our 4G network. Customers can simply utilize our cellular network, and that is how we position HiFi Air,” Beka explained at the IOH office on Friday, February 27, 2026.
Beka highlighted that approximately 11 million households in Indonesia remain unconnected to fiber-optic networks, presenting a significant growth opportunity for Indosat in expanding its HiFi Air customer base.
Available in multiple variants supporting both 4G and 5G, HiFi Air is targeted to attract more than 100,000 subscribers within its first year.
“Our broader ambition is to reach as many households in Indonesia as possible, including those currently using FTTH. However, for this year, we are targeting above 100,000 users,” he added.
Promotional Launch and Advanced Connectivity Features
To coincide with the Lebaran 2026 festive season, Indosat is offering promotional pricing for the devices. The HiFi Air 4G starts from IDR 399,000, including an initial 50GB quota valid for 30 days, while the HiFi Air 5G is priced from IDR 1,499,000, bundled with 75GB of data for 30 days.
The HiFi Air device can connect between 32 and 128 devices simultaneously, depending on the model.
Specifically for the 5G-ready variant, the device is equipped with Wi-Fi 6 Dual Band technology to ensure stable connectivity even when multiple devices are connected at the same time.
Conclusion
With HiFi Air, Indosat is positioning itself aggressively in Indonesia’s non-fiber home broadband segment. By leveraging its extensive 4G and 5G networks, the company aims to bridge connectivity gaps for millions of households while capitalizing on the growing demand for flexible, high-speed wireless home internet solutions.
