Google Cloud Launches Cybersecurity Operations Data Center in Indonesia to Strengthen Digital Resilience

9 months ago | Cyber Security

Jakarta, INTI – In a strategic move, Google Cloud has launched a Cybersecurity Operations Data Center in Indonesia, demonstrating its strong commitment to strengthening the country's digital security infrastructure. The data center is hosted in Jakarta and serves as part of Google Cloud’s Security Operations Data Region, allowing data to be managed locally in compliance with national regulations.

Google Cloud’s Commitment to Cyber Resilience

During the launch, Fanly Tanto, Country Director of Google Cloud Indonesia, emphasized that this data center underscores Google’s dedication to enhancing Indonesia’s cyber resilience. The security operations platform is designed to enable organizations both public and private to leverage AI-driven and intelligence-based cybersecurity tools while ensuring that their data remains within Indonesia.

“This supports regulated companies and enterprises with strict data residency requirements. For those who want their data to remain in Indonesia only, we can now meet that need,” said Fanly in Jakarta on Thursday.

“Indonesia BERDaiA” Initiative to Strengthen Talent and Security Posture

To support the operations of the new data center, Google Cloud also introduced the “Indonesia BERDaiA for Cybersecurity” initiative. This program collaborates with five partners to conduct independent security assessments for participating organizations.

Fanly explained that based on the assessment results, Google Cloud will provide actionable recommendations to improve the organizations’ security posture and offer training programs aimed at addressing the cybersecurity talent gap in Indonesia. This ensures better readiness to face increasingly complex cyber threats.

Government Collaboration and 20 Early Adopter Organizations

According to Marcel Judodihardjo, Security Solution Consultant at Google Cloud Indonesia, the company has previously collaborated with government institutions such as the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN) to enhance national cybersecurity efforts.

Currently, around 20 organizations from both government and private sectors have started using the Google Security Operations platform. Marcel highlighted that this platform is well-suited for industries with strict regulations, such as finance, which requires data to be stored within Indonesian territory.

“Our goal is not only business; we also aim to contribute to building a secure digital ecosystem that protects Indonesian society,” Marcel added.

Supporting Digital Transformation Through Global Partnerships

The launch of this cybersecurity data center aligns with the mission of US Business for Indonesia (BISA) an initiative by the US-ASEAN Business Council and the US Embassy, which highlights the contribution of American businesses to Indonesia’s digital transformation. Through this partnership, Google Cloud hopes to accelerate the adoption of advanced AI in modern security operations across the country.

Conclusion

The launch of Google Cloud’s cybersecurity operations data center in Indonesia marks a significant step in supporting national digital resilience. Beyond ensuring data sovereignty, the initiative includes talent development and multi-sector collaboration, laying a stronger foundation for Indonesia’s cybersecurity in the digital era.
