Jakarta, INTI – Without leaving the chat application, customers can now shop and make payments directly through WhatsApp. This is made possible by the launch of PayChat, the latest feature introduced by Indonesian digital payment platform, DOKU.
This innovation is designed to integrate customer conversations with payment systems, enabling a faster, easier, and more efficient transaction process. Through PayChat, DOKU targets businesses of all sizes from small enterprises to large corporations aiming to streamline the online shopping experience directly within chat interactions.
Chat and Checkout in One Seamless Platform
PayChat leverages WhatsApp Business as the primary interaction channel between merchants and customers. Unlike conventional systems that separate the ordering and payment process across multiple platforms, PayChat combines them into a single conversational flow.
“DOKU PayChat reflects the way Indonesian consumers interact today through chat,” said Nabilah Alsagoff, Co-Founder & Chief Operating Officer of DOKU, during the official launch in Jakarta, Monday, 4, August,2025. “This feature helps businesses convert chats into completed transactions without friction.”
Smart Features to Support Sellers
According to Rama Prahara, DOKU’s Chief of Product Experience, sellers can create custom chatbots directly from the DOKU dashboard. This system allows merchants to automate order formats, add key questions (such as name, address, delivery method), and include product images and other details.
Meanwhile, Rachma Kandini, Vice President of Biller as a Service at DOKU, explained that customer data collected through chatbot interactions will be automatically integrated into a dashboard table eliminating the need for manual data entry from tools like Google Forms or copy-pasting from WhatsApp.
Automated Billing and Flexible Fulfillment Options
Beyond managing orders, PayChat also features a "bill broadcast" tool, enabling sellers to send mass billing messages to multiple customers at once. Each message includes a direct payment link without needing to reconfigure or manually format the billing details.
Sellers can also define additional options such as delivery charges, administrative fees, and preferences for takeaway or home delivery all within the same system.
Looking ahead, DOKU plans to roll out a logistics service selection feature during the order process, positioning PayChat as a full end-to-end business solution.
Versatile Solution for Digital Businesses
PayChat is designed to be accessible for businesses of all sizes, as it does not require complex technical integration. All operations are managed through a unified dashboard that allows merchants to monitor transactions in real-time.
By integrating conversations and payments into a single platform, DOKU PayChat accelerates payment flows while strengthening customer-business relationships.
Conclusion
The launch of DOKU PayChat marks a significant step forward in Indonesia’s digital transaction landscape. By combining messaging and payment features, PayChat opens new opportunities for businesses to increase efficiency while offering a smoother shopping experience for customers.
