Jakarta, INTI - Digital Edge has announced a US$4.5 billion investment to develop the CGK Campus, an AI-powered hyperscale data center with an initial capacity of 500 MW, located in the GIIC Industrial Estate, Bekasi. The project represents the company’s largest infrastructure investment to date and underscores its commitment to strengthening the foundation of Indonesia’s rapidly expanding digital economy.
Demand for data center capacity in Indonesia has surged alongside the growth of digital services, cloud adoption, and the increasing use of artificial intelligence across industries. With expansion potential of up to 1 GW, the CGK Campus is designed to become one of the largest and most strategically significant hyperscale data center facilities in the country.
Hyperscale Infrastructure for Next-Generation AI and Cloud Demands
The CGK Campus is engineered to meet high standards of efficiency and sustainability, targeting an annualized PUE of 1.25, among the best in the hyperscale segment. The facility incorporates direct-to-chip liquid cooling to support high-intensity AI workloads, alongside water recycling systems and the integration of renewable energy sources. It also adopts a carrier-neutral architecture, ensuring connectivity flexibility and broad access to a diverse network ecosystem.
Located less than 15 kilometers from the region's primary data center cluster and approximately 40 kilometers from the EDGE1 and EDGE2 data center facilities, the campus provides low-latency connectivity to Jakarta’s key business hubs. Development will be carried out in phases, with the first building scheduled to be operational in Q4 2026, followed by the second in Q1 2027 and the third in Q2 2027.
John Freeman, CEO of Digital Edge, described the CGK Campus as a major milestone in the company’s Asia-Pacific strategy and its largest infrastructure investment to date. “CGK Campus is a significant milestone in our Asia-Pacific strategy and represents the largest infrastructure investment we have ever made. This move will strengthen Indonesia’s readiness to meet the surge in demand for digital services, cloud, and AI in the years ahead,” he said.
Stephanus Oscar, CEO of Digital Edge Indonesia, noted that the growth of Indonesia’s digital infrastructure needs has outpaced available capacity. “CGK Campus is designed to address this demand by delivering 500MW of sustainable capacity, ready for large-scale hyperscale and AI deployments,” he explained.
The campus will be supported by Indonet’s fiber network and infrastructure, Digital Edge’s subsidiary in Indonesia. “Our infrastructure serves as the connectivity foundation for CGK Campus,” said Andy Rigoli, CEO of Indonet.
He added that all new routes to the GIIC site are being built entirely underground to enhance network reliability and resilience. Equipped with high-standard systems and advanced monitoring, the integrated infrastructure ensures a carrier-neutral solution capable of meeting the needs of both hyperscale and enterprise customers.
Backed by robust connectivity and a sustainability-driven design, the CGK Campus underscores Digital Edge’s commitment to building the digital foundation for Indonesia’s future.
Conclusion
The development of CGK Campus marks a pivotal step in advancing Indonesia’s digital infrastructure. With hyperscale capacity, AI-ready design, sustainable operations, and robust carrier-neutral connectivity, the project positions Digital Edge as a key enabler of the country’s next phase of digital growth, supporting the accelerating demand for cloud, AI, and enterprise digital services in the years ahead.
