Jakarta, INTI - The Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, Stella Christie, urged the younger generation to critically examine the development of artificial intelligence (AI) and prepare themselves for the changes it brings. AI advancements underscore the importance of higher education as a platform for the creation of new knowledge and innovation.

This message was conveyed by Stella while speaking as a keynote speaker at the Tanoto Scholars Gathering (TSG) 2026 with the theme "Learn & Lead: Rooted in Purpose, Growing for Impact."

Three Things to Strengthen

She encouraged participants to understand AI not only from its potential perspective but also from its accompanying challenges. She stated that higher education institutions need to strengthen their capabilities to remain relevant in the AI era.

"The purpose of universities is to create new knowledge and innovate knowledge. We need to think deeply about these three things: knowledge creation, knowledge transmission, and knowledge curation," said Stella.

She emphasized the importance of critical thinking skills in using AI. Students need to develop the ability to evaluate AI output so they do not simply rely on technology but are still able to produce quality knowledge and decisions.

Furthermore, Stella encouraged participants to continue developing their capacity to create added value that cannot be replaced by technology.

"If you, as outstanding human beings, are capable of creating knowledge, transmitting knowledge, and curating knowledge, you will certainly not be replaced by artificial intelligence," she said.
