Jakarta, INTI - Danantara Indonesia is accelerating the digital transformation of Indonesia’s state-owned enterprises (SOEs) with an initial efficiency target of 25–40 percent, depending on the readiness and characteristics of each company.
The transformation will be carried out gradually, beginning with a comprehensive digital readiness assessment across all SOEs and the establishment of a collaborative digital foundation during the first six months of implementation.
Chief Technology Officer of Danantara Indonesia, Sigit Puji Santosa, emphasized the importance of a coordinated digital transformation strategy throughout the SOE ecosystem. The initiative aims to create more measurable, effective, and performance-driven operations while improving both business and operational outcomes.
Danantara is promoting an end-to-end digital transformation approach that covers business model enhancement, customer experience, operational systems, technology infrastructure, governance, and data utilization. Through a more integrated strategy with direct operational impact, the institution aims to ensure that digital transformation delivers tangible performance improvements rather than remaining limited to planning stages.
Strengthening SOE Synergy Through Digital Integration
According to Sigit, Danantara is also focusing on strengthening collaboration among SOEs through the consolidation and integration of platforms, technologies, and shared capabilities.
“In areas with high levels of duplication, such as technology spending, digital infrastructure, software licensing, and shared services, stronger synergy could potentially generate efficiency gains estimated at 25–40 percent,” Sigit stated on Thursday.
AI and Frontier Technologies Become Strategic Focus
Danantara believes that rapid advancements in technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), advanced analytics, post-quantum readiness, and cybersecurity require SOEs to adapt more quickly to remain competitive.
The initiative serves as an early step toward developing a national roadmap for adopting frontier technologies aimed at improving productivity, enhancing decision-making quality, and encouraging innovation aligned with industry needs.
Danantara has also identified digital talent development as one of its main priorities, as Indonesia is projected to require an additional 600,000 digital professionals annually through 2030.
Through a “Triple Helix” approach, Danantara seeks to strengthen collaboration between industry, government, and academia to accelerate talent development, research activities, and the commercialization of national innovation.
In addition, the institution is supporting the development of strategic domestic technologies such as sovereign AI, sovereign cloud infrastructure, and other future-oriented technologies to strengthen national digital capabilities.
Sigit stated that these efforts are expected not only to improve productivity and operational performance across the SOE ecosystem, but also to reinforce the concept of “Indonesia Inc” through closer collaboration among Danantara, SOEs, government institutions, universities, and industry players.
To support implementation, Danantara will establish an integrated digital roadmap through the Danantara Digital Transformation Task Force, which will function as a joint governance mechanism connecting Danantara Indonesia with all state-owned enterprises.
Through this framework, the execution of digital transformation initiatives is expected to become more transparent, measurable, and accountable, while also enabling stronger collaboration in critical areas such as auditability, financial management, data and system integration, and operational performance improvement.
Conclusion
Danantara is accelerating the digital transformation of Indonesia’s SOEs through integrated technology adoption, AI-driven innovation, and cross-sector collaboration to improve efficiency, strengthen competitiveness, and build a more connected national digital ecosystem.
