Jakarta, INTI - CoreWeave, a US-based AI-focused cloud service provider, has announced its first expansion into the Asia-Pacific region by selecting Indonesia as the site for three new data centers. These facilities are designed to meet the rapidly growing demand for AI computing in Southeast Asia.
The three data centers will have a combined IT power capacity of 360 megawatts and are slated to begin operations in 2028. CoreWeave will own and operate the entire computing infrastructure at these sites, providing AI cloud platform services to AI research laboratories, startups, and enterprises in Southeast Asia.
This move marks CoreWeave’s first physical presence in the Asia-Pacific region after operating data center networks mostly in the United States and Europe. The company views Indonesia as having immense potential, driven by rapid digital economic growth, rising investment in AI education, and an increasing need for high computing power.
Chief Operating Officer of CoreWeave, Sachin Jain, stated that the company aims to establish a presence in regions requiring high computing capacity, performance, and reliability to support AI technology development.
"CoreWeave goes where we can bring AI pioneers the capacity, performance, and reliability they need to build and scale their ideas," said Jain in an official statement on August 4, 2026.
He noted that Indonesia’s investments in the AI sector and digital infrastructure have positioned the country as one of Southeast Asia’s fastest-growing destinations for global technology investment.
"Now, this expansion gives enterprises, AI-native companies and governments more compute locally and globally, wherever they need it, to turn that into a competitive advantage," he added.
Strengthening Indonesia's Digital Transformation Targets
This investment also aligns with Indonesia’s national agenda to bolster digital infrastructure, develop domestic AI capabilities, and solidify its position as a key digital economy hub in the region.
In addition to constructing the data centers, CoreWeave plans to recruit and train a local workforce to operate the facilities. This initiative is expected to foster the development of Indonesian talent in the fields of data centers, cloud computing, and AI infrastructure.
The availability of domestic computing capacity can also help customers reduce latency when accessing AI services.
