Jakarta, INTI — In an exclusive interview with INTI Media at INTI Expo 2025 held at JIExpo Kemayoran, Head of LAGG Industrial and Wind Engineering at the Center for Aeronautics Research and Technology, BRIN, Matza Gusto Andika, shared his insights on the development and potential of the drone industry in Indonesia. According to him, this sector has shown significant growth, especially with the increasing applications of drones across various fields.

Indonesia’s Drone Industry Continues to Grow

Matza explained that the use of drones in Indonesia is steadily expanding, from agriculture to industrial inspections. He emphasized the importance of support from the government, academia, and industry players to strengthen local components and promote the development of domestically produced drones.

“BRIN continues to encourage technological independence so that Indonesia is not just a user, but also a producer of drones,” he said.

Research and Education Collaboration

Matza highlighted the importance of collaboration between the drone industry and educational institutions. He noted that several universities, together with BRIN through the Center for Aeronautics Research and Technology, have opened opportunities for cooperation with academics, researchers, and industry to cultivate young talent and improve the quality of local components, from aerostructures to flight control systems.

Towards a National Drone Ecosystem

Matza also stressed the significance of cross-sector collaboration among academia, business, industry, and associations in building a strong and independent national drone ecosystem.

“With sustainable cooperation and support from various stakeholders, Indonesia can become a key player in global drone technology development,” he said optimistically.

Conclusion

This interview reinforces BRIN’s commitment to strengthening national drone innovation through research, collaboration, and local talent development. With synergy between the government, academia, and industry, Indonesia has great potential to achieve technological independence in drones and compete on the global stage.
