Jakarta, INTI – Amid the persistent digital divide between major cities and remote areas, the Indonesian Telecommunication Network Providers Association (Apjatel) has taken a strategic step through its collaboration with PT Pos Indonesia. The initiative was announced during the 2025 Apjatel National Working Meeting (Rakernas), held recently at The Papandayan Hotel in Bandung. Through this partnership, thousands of Post Office assets will be optimized as new internet access points to address the growing need for connectivity across communities. This effort serves as a rapid solution to accelerate network distribution, which has long posed challenges in various regions of Indonesia.
Apjatel and Pos Indonesia Join Forces for Digital Inclusion
Apjatel is partnering with PT Pos Indonesia and PT Pos Properti Indonesia to utilize more than 2,900 Post Office assets, including buildings, land, and even historical structures. This optimization aims to strengthen digital infrastructure development across the country, including the 3T regions (frontier, outermost, and disadvantaged areas), which have long struggled to obtain stable internet access.
Apjatel’s Chairman, Jerry Mangasas Swandy, emphasized that this collaboration will accelerate national digital inclusion.
“Synergy with PT Pos Indonesia opens new opportunities for the telecommunications industry to be closer to the public. We are optimistic that this collaboration will accelerate digital access distribution to even the most remote parts of the country,” he said in an official statement on Monday, November, 24, 2025.
Starting with 26 Priority Locations Across Several Provinces
This collaboration is a follow-up to an MoU signed on 26 September 2024. In its initial phase, implementation will begin at 26 priority locations across Riau, Jambi, West Java, and West Kalimantan. These areas were selected due to their strategic potential as new network expansion points.
Apjatel Supervisory Board Chairman, Sumarsono, reaffirmed that this initiative is part of the organization’s broader agenda to strengthen Indonesia’s digital transformation.
“Apjatel remains committed to being a strategic partner for the government in accelerating equitable and sustainable digital transformation across the nation,” he stated.
Apjatel Rakernas 2025: A Multi-Stakeholder Consolidation
This major initiative was announced in conjunction with the 2025 Apjatel Rakernas, attended by more than 200 participants, including central and regional board members, industry partners, as well as representatives from government agencies and state-owned enterprises. The presence of PT Pos Indonesia and the West Java Communication and Information Office demonstrated strong cross-sector support for digital equity initiatives.
During the forum, Apjatel stressed that digital equity requires massive collaboration, and leveraging thousands of Post Office assets represents a strategic move to accelerate network expansion to all levels of society.
Support from the Central Government
Strong support also came from the central government. The Director General of Digital Infrastructure at the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs, Wayan Toni Supriyanto, stated that Apjatel’s initiative is a concrete effort to accelerate national digital infrastructure development.
According to him, synergy between industry associations, state-owned enterprises, and private sector players will be a key driver for Indonesia as it works to close connectivity gaps across regions and advance the national digital transformation agenda.
Conclusion
The optimization of thousands of Post Office assets into new internet hubs marks a significant commitment by Apjatel to accelerate digital access expansion throughout Indonesia. Through strategic collaboration with PT Pos Indonesia and strong government support, this initiative is expected to reduce the digital divide, strengthen the telecommunications ecosystem, and deliver inclusive connectivity for all citizens from urban centers to rural and remote communities.
