Jakarta, INTI - Hukumonline has launched NEX Compliance, an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered compliance management system designed to help companies identify regulatory obligations, assign responsibilities, and monitor follow-up actions through an integrated platform. The technology addresses the challenges businesses face in managing thousands of regulations and ensuring consistent compliance.
The launch took place during the Indonesian In-House Counsel Summit & Awards 2026 at The Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Bali, late last week. Hukumonline developed the system to help legal and compliance teams reduce repetitive manual tasks and accelerate the mapping of obligations based on their relevance to business operations.
Hukumonline Chief Executive Officer Arkka Dhiratara said companies need more than access to regulatory information. They also require effective systems to manage and fulfill the obligations arising from applicable regulations.
“We developed NEX Compliance to address the day-to-day challenges faced by legal and compliance teams. We aim to help companies reduce repetitive manual work while providing a more structured way to identify and manage compliance obligations,” Arkka said, as quoted on Monday, October 12, 2026.
Indonesia’s Complex Regulatory Landscape Drives Demand for AI Compliance Solutions
The scale of this challenge is reflected in Indonesia’s position in the Global Business Complexity Index 2026, published by TMF Group. Indonesia ranked 15th among the world’s most complex jurisdictions for doing business, with the large volume of regulations adding to companies’ compliance burdens.
Hukumonline’s database records more than 360,000 regulations currently in force in Indonesia. Approximately 3,300 new regulations are issued annually, while Hukumonline research indicates that these regulations generate an average of around 17,400 obligations per year.
“Imagine if 300 regulations are relevant to a business. How many obligations would the company need to fulfill?” Arkka said.
The sheer volume of regulations means legal and compliance teams cannot rely solely on collecting legal documents. They must also review regulatory provisions, identify obligations relevant to business activities, establish priorities, and ensure that each obligation has a clearly assigned owner and a defined follow-up process.
Compliance information is also frequently scattered across different documents, systems, and business units. This can make it difficult for companies to monitor their compliance status, particularly when regulatory changes require adjustments to internal policies and procedures.
Hukumonline Associate Vice President of Enterprise Solutions Abdul Rhazak Chaidir said compliance management should focus on obligations that are genuinely relevant to a company’s operations rather than simply collecting as many regulations as possible.
“Compliance management is not just about collecting as many regulations as possible. More importantly, companies need to identify relevant obligations, understand their priorities, and consistently monitor follow-up actions,” Abdul said.
NEX Compliance Expands AI Capabilities for Integrated Regulatory Monitoring
Hukumonline previously introduced its Regulatory Compliance System (RCS) in 2020. The platform helps companies monitor obligations arising from applicable regulations in a more structured manner, supported by content verified by experts.
With NEX Compliance, Hukumonline has expanded this approach by enabling users to ask questions about regulations relevant to their business activities. The system then helps retrieve relevant information and identify the obligations that need to be fulfilled.
Users can also assign responsibility for specific obligations and monitor subsequent actions. This approach enables different business functions and stakeholders to participate in compliance management according to their respective responsibilities.
NEX Compliance introduces two additional capabilities: Internal Policy and Regulation Review and the Internal Compliance Framework. Both features complement the compliance monitoring functions previously available through RCS.
The Internal Policy and Regulation Review feature helps companies assess their standard operating procedures (SOPs), internal policies, and corporate documents to ensure alignment with the latest regulations.
Meanwhile, the Internal Compliance Framework supports the monitoring of compliance obligations based on applicable regulations and the company’s internal compliance framework.
Through these capabilities, Hukumonline aims to help businesses manage increasingly complex regulatory requirements, improve coordination across departments, and strengthen compliance processes through AI-powered technology.
Conclusion
Hukumonline’s launch of NEX Compliance reflects the growing role of AI in helping businesses navigate Indonesia’s complex regulatory environment. By automating regulatory identification, assigning responsibilities, and monitoring compliance activities through an integrated platform, the system aims to reduce manual workloads and improve operational efficiency. Its enhanced policy review and internal compliance features are designed to help companies keep their procedures aligned with evolving regulations and maintain more consistent compliance management.
