92% of Indonesia’s Knowledge Workers Have Adopted Generative AI, Report Reveals

4 hours ago | Artificial Intelligence

Jakarta, INTI - Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Nezar Patria revealed that 92% of Indonesia’s knowledge workers have incorporated generative artificial intelligence (AI) into their daily tasks, according to the Work Trend Index 2024 published by Microsoft and LinkedIn.

Indonesia’s AI Adoption Rate Exceeds Global Average

The achievement demonstrates that Indonesia is no longer merely an observer in the global AI revolution but has become an active participant in embracing emerging technologies.

Nezar highlighted that the rapid adoption of AI has been supported by a significant decline in its cost, which has dropped by more than 280 times between 2022 and 2024, making AI tools increasingly affordable and accessible to a wider range of users.

He also referred to the AI Index Report 2024, which showed that generative AI reached 53% of the population within just three years, an adoption pace significantly faster than the early growth of personal computers and the internet.

Furthermore, around 88% of organizations worldwide have integrated AI into various operational activities, indicating the growing role of AI in reshaping business processes and workplace productivity.

Government Strengthens AI Literacy and Digital Talent Development

Despite the rapid rise of AI utilization, Nezar emphasized that equal access to technology and the enhancement of AI-related skills remain key challenges in Indonesia’s digital transformation journey.

He warned that future inequality will not only be defined by the gap between those who have internet access and those who do not, but also between individuals who can leverage AI productively and those left behind by technological change.

Therefore, the government continues to promote digital talent development and AI literacy initiatives to ensure that the benefits of artificial intelligence can be enjoyed inclusively across all levels of society.

Conclusion

Indonesia’s strong adoption of generative AI reflects the country’s readiness to embrace the future of digital transformation. However, expanding AI literacy and developing skilled digital talent remain essential to ensuring inclusive and sustainable AI growth.
