3 months ago | Digital Technology

Jakarta, INTI - Fifteen global technology companies from Africa, Asia, Europe, and North America launched the Trusted Tech Alliance at the Munich Security Conference to unite technology providers under shared principles aimed at delivering trusted technology.

The alliance was established to promote common standards across connectivity, cloud computing infrastructure, semiconductors, software, and artificial intelligence, with a commitment to transparency, security, and data protection regardless of suppliers’ national origins.

Its formation comes amid rapid technological transformation worldwide, growing geopolitical complexity, and increasing concerns over the potential negative impacts of digital technologies.

The Trusted Tech Alliance pledged to work closely with governments and customers to ensure that emerging technologies strengthen public trust while also supporting job creation and economic growth.

The companies that signed the alliance include Anthropic, Amazon Web Services, Cassava Technologies, Cohere, Ericsson, Google Cloud, Hanwha, Jio Platforms, Microsoft, Nokia, Nscale, NTT, Rapidus, Saab, and SAP.

Five Foundational Operational Principles

Members agreed on five core principles as the foundation of their joint operations: Transparent Corporate Governance and Ethical Conduct; Operational Transparency; Secure Development and Independent Assessment; Strong Supply Chain and Security Oversight; and an Open, Cooperative, Inclusive, and Resilient Digital Ecosystem that Respects the Rule of Law and Data Protection.

These commitments require members to maintain robust governance structures, develop technology securely throughout its lifecycle, and implement strong security and quality assurances in contracts with suppliers.

The alliance also advocates for strong global security standards and supports innovation within an open and cooperative digital environment to strengthen technological sovereignty and competitiveness.

David Zapolsky of Amazon stated, “In an era of rapid technological change, collaboration among like-minded industry players is essential to strengthening customer trust and realizing the full benefits of technology for the economy and society. We are joining the Trusted Tech Alliance to reinforce our unwavering commitment to providing customers with technology that is trusted, secure, and resilient.”

Sarah Heck of Anthropic said, “As AI systems become increasingly advanced, driving innovation, accelerating economic growth, and transforming national security, the United States along with its allies and partners must ensure that the most widely used models around the world are always safe, reliable, trustworthy, and developed transparently. Anthropic is proud to join the Trusted Tech Alliance and support U.S. leadership in AI while advancing shared principles with like-minded partners to achieve trustworthy AI.”

Strive Masiyiwa of Cassava Technologies commented, “Amid unprecedented global advances in the adoption of new technologies, Cassava Technologies is proud to be a founding member of the Trusted Tech Alliance. I believe responsible leadership and global cooperation will ensure that technology consistently supports human progress and inclusive economic development, which are critical for younger and future generations.”

Börje Ekholm of Ericsson stated, “Without collaboration, no single company or country can create a secure and trusted digital ecosystem. Trust and security can only be achieved together. That is why, alongside like-minded industry peers, we are launching the Trusted Tech Alliance, an initiative committed to verifiable trust practices across the digital ecosystem.”

Marcus Jadotte of Google Cloud said, “Google Cloud has a long-standing commitment to supporting choice, trust, and sovereignty embedded in our technology today. Through the Trusted Tech Alliance, we aim to champion the principles we have upheld: Supporting customer choice and delivering a portfolio of solutions backed by technical oversight and local partnerships to meet stringent sovereignty requirements and regional standards.”

Brad Smith of Microsoft stated, “In today’s geopolitical environment, it is critical for like-minded companies to work together to protect security and advance high global standards that preserve trust in technology across nations. The Trusted Tech Alliance is not built on the nationality of service providers, but on a shared commitment to customers. It brings together leading companies under clear and verifiable principles demonstrating that technology can be operated responsibly, securely, and reliably wherever it is deployed.”

The alliance emphasized that trust, security, transparency, and cross-border collaboration from the core foundation for the responsible development and deployment of global technology.

Conclusion

The formation of the Trusted Tech Alliance marks a coordinated effort by global technology leaders to establish shared standards rooted in trust, security, and transparency. In an increasingly complex geopolitical and digital landscape, cross-border collaboration is emerging as a critical pillar for responsible innovation and long-term technological resilience.
