10 Profession AI Cannot Replace

1 year ago | Artificial Intelligence

Jakarta, INTI – In recent years, we've started to see how artificial intelligence (AI) is changing many aspects of life, including the world of work. From delivery robots in Switzerland, to robot farmers in America, to automated cashiers in Japan, all of this proves that automation is moving fast. As technology continues to evolve rapidly, it raises growing concerns about the possibility of machines replacing human jobs. However, despite these advancements, there are still professions that are expected to remain irreplaceable by AI in the future

Jobs that are safe from AI

The US Career Institute analyzed 65 jobs that have very little risk of being replaced by machines. The US Career Institute analyzed 65 jobs that have a very low risk of being replaced by machines, based on skills, knowledge, and activities that AI still struggles to replicate. According to their projections until 2032, the following 10 jobs are considered the hardest to replace:

10 AI-Safe Jobs (US Career Institute Version)

  1. Nurse Practitioner

Nurse practitioners are responsible for diagnosing and treating patients, but they also build strong relationships with patients, making nuanced decisions based on individual contexts. Their ability to show empathy and assess conditions holistically remains challenging for AI.

  1. Choreographer

Creating choreography requires creativity, an understanding of music and human movement, and emotional expression. It’s a highly artistic process that involves conveying deep emotions and stories, which AI cannot replicate in the same way a human can.

  1. Physician Assistants

Although they work under the supervision of doctors, physician assistants still perform vital tasks like patient assessments, creating treatment plans, and making medical decisions based on complex human conditions. These nuanced tasks go beyond what AI can currently handle.

  1. Mental Health Counselors

Mental health counseling requires empathy, active listening, and the ability to interpret emotions. It’s about building trust and understanding complex human emotions, something AI cannot yet comprehend or replicate in therapeutic settings

  1. Nursing Instructor & Teacher (Post-Secondary)

Nursing instructors not only teach technical skills but also mentor and guide students in clinical settings. The role requires real-time feedback, emotional intelligence, and decision-making that involves human interaction, which AI is unable to fully replicate.

  1. Talent Coaches & Scouts

Talent coaches and scouts have to assess not only skills but also potential, creativity, and personality—elements that require intuition and understanding beyond data points. Their ability to see potential in people is something AI struggles to replicate.

  1. Athletic Trainers

Athletic trainers work directly with athletes to prevent and treat injuries, requiring knowledge of anatomy, movement, and the ability to make quick decisions in response to physical conditions. Human judgment in real-time situations is something AI has not yet mastered.

  1. Physical Therapist

Physical therapists work closely with patients to help them recover from injuries by guiding them through personalized exercises. They assess the patient's physical responses in real-time and adjust treatments based on human interaction, which is not something AI can do.

  1. Orthotist & Prosthetist

Orthotists and prosthetists design and fit devices to help people with physical disabilities. This requires a high degree of understanding of human anatomy, customization to individual needs, and hands-on adjustments, which AI cannot perform with the same precision.

  1. Occupational Therapist

Occupational therapists help patients regain the skills needed for daily living after injury or illness. They assess patients’ abilities, provide customized therapy plans, and adjust approaches based on the patient’s progress, all requiring human insight and adaptability.

Conclusion

Despite the rapid development of AI and automation, not all jobs can be completely replaced by machines. Jobs that require human touch, creativity, empathy, and complex decision-making will survive and even thrive in the future. By equipping ourselves with skills that are difficult for AI to replicate, we can not only survive, but also have a great chance to succeed in this new era. Adaptation, collaboration with technology, and skill development are the main keys to winning the competition in the modern world of work.
