Jakarta, INTI - Digital transformation is no longer limited to providing fast internet connectivity. As demand for data services increases and telecommunications networks continue to expand, expectations for environmentally responsible business practices are also rising.
This awareness has driven PT XLSMART Telecom Sejahtera Tbk (XLSMART) to expand its 5G network implementation while also strengthening its commitment to sustainable business practices.
This initiative has once again earned recognition through the Diamond Achievement in Emission Transparency award, presented at The Best Corporate Emission Reduction Transparency Awards 2026 organized by Investor Trust.
XLSMART Director and Chief Regulatory Officer, Merza Fachys, stated that the company’s 5G network development strategy goes hand in hand with the implementation of the Green Network concept in its operations.
“Our 5G expansion runs in parallel with the Green Network approach to ensure that digitalization grows in a sustainable way,” he said in an official statement on Sunday, June 7, 2026.
According to Merza, future networks must deliver not only better digital experiences for customers but also positive environmental impacts.
“This recognition motivates us to continue strengthening our network and expanding 5G implementation, while also operating in a more efficient and sustainable manner,” he added.
Strengthening National Digital Infrastructure
In line with rising connectivity demands, XLSMART continues to expand its 5G services across various regions in Indonesia. This network development aims to deliver faster, more reliable, and more relevant connectivity for both society and the business sector.
The company is also increasing network capacity to anticipate the continuous growth of data traffic year by year.
In its implementation, XLSMART applies a Green Network approach that enables more efficient improvements in capacity and service quality. This approach includes network operational optimization, energy-efficient technologies, and the integration of sustainability principles in telecommunications infrastructure development.
Through this strategy, the company seeks to balance business growth, technological innovation, and environmental responsibility.
Consistent Carbon Emission Management
Commitment to sustainability is one of the key factors behind XLSMART’s achievement. The award recognizes companies demonstrating high transparency in managing and reporting carbon emissions, including Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3 emissions.
This recognition reflects the company’s consistency in measuring, managing, and publicly reporting emissions in a structured and transparent manner.
Key initiatives supporting this achievement include Green Network Operations optimization, network energy efficiency programs, the use of renewable energy through Renewable Energy Certificates (REC), solar panel utilization at operational facilities, electronic waste management, and the implementation of a Zero Waste to Landfill program.
To ensure effective sustainability governance, XLSMART regularly prepares sustainability reports aligned with national and international standards.
These standards include POJK 51/2017, GRI Standards, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and the ASEAN Corporate Governance Scorecard (ACGS).
The company also conducts periodic Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) performance monitoring through a Sustainability Committee involving cross-functional management teams.
Following its merger, XLSMART continues to strengthen the integration of ESG principles into its business strategy, including greenhouse gas emission management, which is now carried out in a more integrated and measurable way.
Conclusion
XLSMART’s expansion of its 5G network alongside its recognition for carbon emission transparency highlights the company’s dual focus on technological advancement and sustainability. By integrating Green Network principles and strengthening ESG practices, XLSMART continues to support Indonesia’s digital infrastructure growth while ensuring responsible environmental management. This approach reinforces the company’s commitment to delivering efficient, reliable, and sustainable telecommunications services.
