TikTok Tests New AI Content Controls for Users on FYP

5 months ago | Artificial Intelligence

Jakarta, INTI – TikTok’s efforts to restore user comfort are once again put to the test as complaints rise over the flood of AI-generated content on the For You Page (FYP). To address this issue, TikTok has begun testing a new feature that allows users to control the intensity of AI content appearing on their feed. The trial, conducted on Monday across the global platform, marks the company’s first step toward providing a more measurable solution while introducing new innovations for a more personalized and safer user experience. The feature is accessible through a system update found in the topic management settings.

Slider Control to Adjust the Amount of AI Content

TikTok has introduced a slider that regulates the frequency of AI-generated content, located within the Manage Topics menu. Through this feature, users can adjust the slider to request more AI content or reduce how often it appears on their FYP. This initiative is part of TikTok’s strategy to enhance its recommendation system so it better aligns with individual user preferences.

In addition to the slider, TikTok has added a dedicated “Not Interested” option specifically for AI-generated content, along with keyword filters to make it easier for users to block certain topics.

Invisible Watermark for AI Content Detection

To maintain content transparency and integrity, TikTok is implementing an invisible watermark on content created using TikTok’s AI tools, including AI Editor Pro. This watermark can only be detected by TikTok’s system and is difficult to remove, helping the platform identify content produced by artificial intelligence.

The watermark technology also applies to videos uploaded using the C2PA industry authentication standard, enabling more accurate verification of AI-generated material.

Set for Public Release in the Coming Weeks

Although still in the testing phase, TikTok announced that both the AI content slider control and the invisible watermark system will be rolled out publicly in the coming weeks. The company stated that these advancements are part of its long-term commitment to creating a digital environment that is safer, more informative, and less prone to manipulation.

In its official newsroom announcement, TikTok reaffirmed its commitment to using AI as a tool to enhance platform safety, improve content discovery, and support creator creativity.

Conclusion

TikTok’s trial of its new features demonstrates the company’s seriousness in responding to technological trends while maintaining user comfort. With adjustable AI content intensity, additional filtering options, and transparent watermark technology, TikTok aims to build a safer, more controlled ecosystem that still supports technology-driven creativity. These updates mark an important step in balancing AI innovation with user experience in the digital space.
