Jakarta, INTI – On July 8, 2025, at the Jirap Room, B. J. Habibie Building, Central Jakarta, the Indonesian Internet Service Providers Association (APJII) and the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) officially launched a strategic partnership that will integrate the Indonesia Internet Expo & Summit (IIXS) 2025 with the Indonesia Research & Innovation Expo (InaRI) 2025 into a simultaneous national-scale event. This collaboration aims to become a catalyst for accelerating the application of research, infrastructure investment, and the strengthening of the artificial intelligence (AI) ecosystem, supporting Indonesia’s vision of “Golden Indonesia 2045.”
BRIN’s Chairman, Dr. Laksana Tri Handoko, stated, “The InaRI Expo is not merely an exhibition of research outputs, it is a platform for collaboration between science, industry, and society. Amid the rise of AI and other frontier technologies, Indonesia has a significant opportunity to become a key player in the knowledge-based economy. We want to ensure our research results have direct and tangible impact.”
R. Hendrian, BRIN’s Deputy for Research and Innovation Utilization, emphasized that this synergy will help bridge the traditional gap between invention and innovation. He pointed out that the real-world network data from APJII’s ecosystem will enrich BRIN’s AI research models, while BRIN’s scientific breakthroughs will empower the internet industry with cutting-edge, immediately implementable solutions.
APJII’s Secretary General, Zulfadly Syam, highlighted that Indonesia's digital infrastructure still suffers from access disparity between urban areas and underdeveloped regions. While many regencies already have adequate backbone infrastructure, they often lack affordable and high-quality last-mile connectivity. He added that the InaRI × IIXS collaboration will bring together research and market forces to help close this digital divide.
Zulfadly further noted that IIXS 2025 will be significantly expanded, focusing on equitable connectivity as the key foundation for AI adoption. He stressed that cross-sector research–industry partnerships are crucial to ensuring AI technology doesn’t remain a concept, but becomes a real-world solution felt by communities across the archipelago.
He also explained that APJII members operating in over 400 cities/regencies frequently face technical and regulatory challenges when expanding internet access. Therefore, an integrated ecosystem ranging from research and public policy to investment, will be key to accelerating the equal distribution of digital services.
IIXS × InaRI 2025 will highlight five strategic pillars:
- AI-Ready Connectivity
- Secure & Sovereign Internet
- Green Digital Infrastructure
- Talent Fusion Hub
- Startup Deep-Tech Launchpad
Each pillar will showcase technologies such as standalone 5G, LEO satellites, low-emission data centers, integrated internship programs within BRIN labs and ISP network operation centers, and research startup demo days in front of investors.
“We won’t just need fast networks but also secure, resilient networks that are adaptive to future challenges such as cyberattacks, fast-flux, and AI-driven traffic surges,” Zulfadly stated, underscoring the importance of the Secure & Sovereign Internet and AI-Ready Connectivity pillars.
The organizers are targeting:
- Rp 3 trillion in potential R&D industry partnership value,
- Over 30,000 visitors,
- Participation from more than 1,200 exhibitors,
- 75+ global speakers, and
- At least 50 MoUs or Letters of Intent (LoI) signed.
The Kick-Off Agenda includes the launch of a unified brand identity under the theme “Building the Future of AI Research, Connectivity & Digital Collaboration,” a teaser screening of the twin expos, and a panel discussion titled “Strategic Collaboration Towards a National AI Ecosystem” featuring APJII, BRIN, Komdigi, and cloud, satellite, and digital finance industry partners.
BRIN and APJII invite government agencies, industries, academia, research communities, investors, and the general public to participate, showcase innovations, or sponsor IIXS × InaRI 2025, which will take place from October 28 - 30, 2025, at Jakarta International Expo (JIExpo), Kemayoran. Booth registration and partnership programs are available at indonesiainternetexpo.com.
