20 hours ago | Green Industrial

Jakarta, INTI - PT PLN (Persero) has partnered with the Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) Surabaya to launch the PLN Innovation Competition in Electricity (PLN ICE) 2026, a nationwide competition designed to nurture student talent and accelerate innovation supporting Indonesia's clean energy transition.

Organized under PLN's Corporate Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) program, the competition provides university students with a platform to develop innovative solutions in electric vehicles, energy technology, and clean energy startups.

Now in its seventh edition, PLN ICE continues its collaboration with ITS as the technical organizing partner, strengthening cooperation between industry and academia to develop highly skilled talent for Indonesia's electricity sector.

According to Mochamad Soleh, General Manager of PLN's Electricity Research and Development Center, PLN ICE reflects the company's commitment to advancing human capital while strengthening the national innovation ecosystem.

"PLN ICE is more than a competition, it serves as a collaborative platform where students can develop innovative solutions that support the transformation of Indonesia's power sector. Together with ITS, we aim to foster practical, competitive innovations that contribute to accelerating the country's energy transition," Soleh said.

Showcasing Innovation in Electric Mobility and Energy Startups

PLN ICE 2026 features a Startup Competition for students developing technology-based energy solutions with commercial potential, alongside an Electric Vehicle (EV) Competition comprising EV Go-Kart, EV Drag Race, and Micro EV categories. The competition challenges participants to design, engineer, and build innovative electric vehicles.

To encourage greater participation, PLN has allocated more than Rp2 billion in funding support, competition implementation, and awards for participants and winners.

The company expects the program to help transform promising student innovations into practical technologies that can be adopted by Indonesia's electricity industry while supporting the nation's clean energy transition.

Nationwide Platform for Future Energy Leaders

The competition is open to active university students from higher education institutions across Indonesia. Beyond the contest itself, PLN ICE provides opportunities for participants to strengthen their research capabilities, engineering skills, business innovation, and professional networks with academics and industry leaders.

Registration for PLN ICE 2026 is open from June 25 to July 31, 2026, with detailed information on eligibility, competition categories, schedules, and application procedures available through the official PLN ICE website.

Conclusion

Through PLN ICE 2026, PLN continues to empower young innovators to develop practical clean energy solutions, strengthening collaboration between academia and industry while supporting Indonesia's transition toward a more sustainable energy future.
