Nezar Patria: Young Generation Should Prepare to Understand Public Policies on Technology

Jakarta, INTI - Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs (Komdigi), Nezar Patria, emphasized that it is not enough for the younger generation to just understand technology. Nezar expressed that the young generation needs to be able to formulate public policies to guide artificial intelligence developments in Indonesia.

In a meeting with participants of the Youth Parliamentary 2026, Nezar emphasized the important role of young people in the policy-making process.

"When you simulate a parliamentary session, you discuss one of the most important things, which is public policy," he said at the Kemenkomdigi office in Central Jakarta, Monday, April 27, 2026.

Policy Determines Innovation Direction

He emphasized that the process does not stop at discussion, but continues to the creation and planning of regulations that have a direct impact on Indonesia's strategic issues. He also said that amid rapid technological developments, policy determines the direction of innovation utilization.

Nezar reminded that the younger generation will face major changes due to automation. Therefore, he emphasized the importance of mastering technology to avoid being left behind. This is because Indonesia is still at an early stage in all aspects, including emerging technology.

In this context, the ability to understand and formulate technology policies is key. Nezar said that these policies require extensive knowledge to formulate regulations appropriately and strategically.

He emphasized the importance of young people's role in creating regulations that support innovation and create jobs.
