Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs Issued TUNAS Regulation for Eight Platforms

1 month ago | Digital Technology

Jakarta, INTI - The Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi) has issued a new regulation requiring the deactivation or blocking of accounts owned by children under the age of 16.

Eight major digital platforms are the primary targets of this access block. The platforms are YouTube, TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, Threads, X, Bigo Live, and the online gaming platform Roblox.

The deactivation requirement is stated in Komdigi’s 2026 Ministerial Regulation (Permen) Number 9, issued in Jakarta on Friday, March 6, 2026.

Minister of Komdigi, Meutya Hafid, said that the government's primary focus in this initial phase is on social media and digital platforms deemed high-risk for children.

"This process will be carried out in stages until all platforms fulfill their compliance obligations," said Meutya in an official statement.

The Government Intends to Protect Families from Digital Threats

The decision to target these eight popular apps is based on the digital threats facing Indonesian children, such as exposure to pornographic content, cyberbullying, online fraud, and platform addiction.

Meutya said that the regulation is a concrete step by the government to protect families in Indonesia.

"The government is here so that parents no longer have to fight alone against the algorithm giant," Meutya said.

"We are taking this step to reclaim sovereignty over our children's future. We want technology to humanize people, not sacrifice their childhood," Meutya added.
