Jakarta, INTI - Meta is currently testing a standalone application for Vibes, its AI-powered video creation feature. The move aims to deliver a more focused experience for users to create, discover, and share AI-generated video content.
“Early performance of Vibes within Meta AI has been quite positive. Meta AI has even continued to grow since Vibes was launched,” Meta said, as quoted by TechCrunch on Friday, February 6, 2026.
From Integrated Tool to Dedicated AI Video Platform
First introduced in September 2025, Vibes was previously integrated into the Meta AI app. The feature allows users to generate short videos entirely produced by artificial intelligence, while also browsing a dedicated feed featuring AI videos from other users.
Within Vibes, users can create videos from scratch or remix content appearing in the feed. Before publishing, they can enhance videos with visuals, music, and stylistic adjustments.
The generated content can be shared to the Vibes feed, sent via direct messages, or linked to Instagram and Facebook through Stories and Reels. Meta noted that sharing activity continues to rise, following usage patterns similar to Reels.
At the same time, the move positions Meta to compete directly in the growing AI video market with other players, including OpenAI through its Sora application. Looking ahead, Meta plans to introduce a freemium model for Vibes.
Users will still be able to create videos for free, while subscription options will unlock additional creation limits or monthly video generation opportunities. The subscription testing phase is expected to roll out in the coming months.
Conclusion
By transforming Vibes into a dedicated application, Meta is signaling its long-term commitment to AI-driven content creation. The move not only simplifies the user experience but also strengthens Meta’s competitive position in the rapidly evolving AI video market. With plans for monetization through a freemium model, Vibes could become a key platform in shaping how users create and share AI-generated video content in the future.
